Wins in the Junior SEA Games

Carmina Quilala of I-Labora
brought honor to
St. Scholastica's College and the country last June 4-6, 2004 at the 28th South East Asian Age
Group Championship as one of the Philippine
representatives. She garnered 3 bronze medals in
the highly competitive events for individual
swimming held at Danang, Vietnam. She received 1 bronze
medal for 50 meter |

backstroke, 1 bronze medal for the 100 meter backstroke and 1
bronze medal for the 200 meter backstroke.
The High School swimmer performance is one of the most
consistently positive contributions to the Philippine team of the
said event. Her outstanding ability in the sport is said to
follow the excellence shown by Luica Dacanay who graduated
from the department recently. |
High School Debaters Win
Second Place

The High
School's Delta Chi
(High School Debate
Team) won Second Place at the recently concluded meet of the
Southern Metro Manila Schools Debate Consortium held at the
Woodrose School Campus last July 17, 2004.
The team composed of Cathleen Caga-anan, Kristine
Fernandez, both from IV-Life, and Chelsea Celestino
from IV-Commitment battled their way to the top during the one-day
meet finally landing 1st runner-up (Silver) with the opponent
taking a slim margin over them. They were the top team
during the elimination round.
Cathleen Caga-anan was adjudged one of the top 3 Best
Speakers of the Tournament. |

Dominates Manila Youth Games
The Annual Manila Youth Games which held last June 12-17, 2004 at the
Ninoy Aquino Sports Stadium and other sports venues in the city
concluded with an overwhelming victory for St. Scholastica's High
School Sports teams.
The Volleyball
team was the decisive champion in a straight winning streak from start
to finish. Likewise in swimming, the high school team dominated
All Events. The

team likewise had a good showing with two gold medals and one
silver. Katrina Mendoza of IV-Life and Cindy
Antaran of IV-Integrity got the gold medal for the double event and Cindy
Antaran bagged another silver for singles. |

Another event that gave Saint Scholastica's an overwhelming
advantage was
Taekwondo
with Iachina Hernandez of II-Responsibility bagging one
silver medal and Valine Mae Calmerin of III-Community
getting the gold. Likewise, Nissa Marie Toledo and
Pauline Therese Angeles got the gold for their respective
events.
The Pep Squad had a very rousing performance during the Opening
Ceremony which put them among the top favorites landing as the
first runner-up in the over-all
Cheering Competition. They
received P10,000 (and another P2,000
for their preparation) as second place in the Youth Games.
