Awarding of the 100 Outstanding Alumnae, Generation Awardees
and Boys of Mother Gratia
The Grand Alumnae Homecoming at the
SSC Field
Straight
upon the heels of the parade came the Grand Alumnae Homecoming – the biggest
one ever in a hundred years!
It
seemed that everybody whoever wore the blue-and-white SSC uniform was
there. Yes, everybody, including those who were not physically present.
For there was many a sigh about old classmates who could not be there but
present in spirit with us.
The
Grand Homecoming begun even before the parade dust cleared up. Drones of
alumnae came to register. Soon, both St. Cecilia’s Hall and the grounds
started filling up with people.
At 4:00
in the afternoon, the Alumnae Awards Ceremonies at St. Cecilia’s Hall
begun. It was truly an affair of the heart. Three groups of Scholasticans
were honored at that affair: the Past Prioresses and Presidents of SSC, the
Boys of Mother Gratia, the Generation Awardees and the 100 Outstanding Scholasticans.
The
singing of old school songs was interspersed between awards. How uplifting
to the heart to hear “We are here, dear SSC and Let’s Cheer for St.
Scholastica.”
The
program that featured SSC talents through the years lasted till the
wee-hours of the morning. Truly, the Scholastican stars went down from the
heavens to bring more sparkles on this fabulous evening. Among the talents
who were featured were Mitch Valdes, known Director Freddie Santos, Edna
Ledesma and company, Imago and Rage Bands, whose some members were
Scholasticans, the Lollipops with Pauline Sicam, Sandy and Maan Hontiveros
and Elsa Mapua, Susan Magno-Fernandez, Marissa Aboitiz danced the night away
with Rumba, among others.
After
supper, magnificent fireworks lighted up the clear evening sky. The display
of different dancing and colorful lights joined the stars in merrymaking and
formally announcing to the whole world that SSC has turned 100 years old!
