The SSC Centennial Job Fair 2006 at Glorietta Activity Center |
|
The Career and Placement Office and the Admissions and Grants
Office, in partnership with the SSC Centennial Committee,
organized an event that was first in the history of SSC – the
Centennial Career and Admissions Fair at the Glorietta.
For the first time, the annual Job Fair was taken out of the
school to a public place and undertaken solo by SSC. The venue
was the
Glorietta
Activity Center in Makati on
February 4, 2006.

Preparations started early in July with conceptualization and
brainstorming by the three officers and went full blast from
November to January. The final stage of preparations was in the
form of company briefing held at St. Scholastica's College last
January 27 to orient the fifty-three (53) participating
companies.
On the day of the event, one could feel s/he were in St. Scho
territory because of the profusion of material that dominated
the activity center: a huge dome banner spanning 60 feet, a
ten-panel exhibit on SSC and the centennial, the Admissions
Office occupying a prominent space along the walkway, centennial
memorabilia booths at strategic places and the name, seal and
logo of SSC emblazoned in large banners in every single space
circling the activity center and lining the walkway. The St.
Scholastica's Alumnae Foundation Inc. (SSAFI) also participated
a memorabilia booth in the persons of past presidents Mrs. Ma.
Asuncion Azcuna, Ms. Ampy Lim and Mrs. Cecile Gutierrez.
The day started with the entrance of colors and an opening
prayer led by Sr. Angeline Arceo, OSB of the College Campus
Ministry Office. Following the opening remarks of
Sr. Angelica Leviste, OSB, SSC President, representatives from
each of the three units showcased their talents much to the
delight of their families as well as the hundreds of spectators
gathered. The Grade School Unit was represented by the
Rhythmizettes, the High School Unit’s HS Glee Club rendered
songs that were a prelude to their upcoming concert and the
College unit with a performance from the
School of
Music
students. The entertainment ended with a surprise upbeat number
from the College Pep Squad.
After the presentation, the Centennial Career and Admissions
Fair was formally opened by Sr. Angelica Leviste, OSB as
President of SSC and Mrs. Louie Agnir-Paraan as Chair of the
Centennial Committee who cut the ceremonial ribbons. The Job
fair was not only open to the Scholasticans but also to the
public much to the satisfaction of the companies present. The
group was then ushered to Gerry's Grill for a sumptuous
appreciation lunch hosted by both the Career and Placement
Office and the Admissions and Grants Office in honor of the top
administrators of the school and their sponsors as well.
The Career and Placement Office would like to thank the
following sponsors: Jobstreet.com, the Official Job Site
Partner, PLDT, the Official Internet Provider, Goodwill
Bookstore, our Partner; Platinum sponsors Accenture and
Convergys and Ayala Malls.
