Programs and Services

Student Formation and Development Program (SFDP) – is a comprehensive leadership formation program which primarily caters to the student organization leaders and the officers of the Student Council and the class representatives. It is composed of four modules: Module 1 - Defining Benedictine Leadership in the light of the National Situation, Module 2- Basic Leadership Skills, Module 3 - Community Organizing and Immersion and Module 4 - Mentoring and Coaching.

Out-of-school training programs are also availed of by student leaders and appropriate support is extended by the SAO. These programs are sponsored by the student organizations’ affiliates, SSC consortia partners or government/non-government organizations.

Student Activity Program (SAP)– is a program of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, programs and projects by different organizations and the Student Council that complements the academic program and that is coordinated with offices/organizations inside and outside SSC. It is designed to meet the needs and interests of the students as it makes student life enriching, interesting, socially responsive and meaningful.

There are twenty-five (25) diverse and dynamic student organizations which serve as the backbone of the SAP. All accredited organizations live by and operate along the vision, mission and thrust of SSC and are guided by faculty moderators. Significantly, all student organizations have an Outreach Liaison Officer which coordinate with the Social Action Center for all student organization-initiated outreach activities and projects.

Blue and White Affair – is a culminating activity that aims to recognize outstanding student leaders, organizations and moderators during a particular school year. It also serves as the turn-over ceremony for the Student Council and all accredited student organizations.

Sports Program in cooperation with the Physical Education Department and the Institutional Sports Committee, the Student Affairs Office implements an integrated sports development program designed to cultivate the skills and talents of potential athletes.  The sports program includes intramurals and participation in various sports competitions.  Membership in the different teams of the sports organization is open to all students who pass the screening and try-outs.

Student Orientation Program (SOP) – is a series of assemblies that aim to welcome Scholasticans to their second home as it features talks on the school’s mission-vision, thrust and theme, academic and non-academic policies, programs and services, campus tours and events designed to build community and develop school spirit.  All first year students and other new students undergo a three-day Orientation Program while upper year levels hold annual Reorientation Programs.

A highlight of the Orientation Program is the staging of Ore et Labora by Sining Tanghalan, the school’s resident theater group. Ora et Labora is a pageant on the lives of the twins – St. Benedict and St. Scholastica.

Student Welfare and Services Program (SWSP) – includes the SAO’s coordinating function with the Student Council in making representations to administration regarding student welfare concerns and the provision of a safe, secure and educationally conducive environment in cooperation with other offices/units.

The Dean of Student Affairs is the implementing officer in the administration of discipline and sits as a member of several student welfare committees such as the Safety and Security Committee, Task Force Safe Schools, Food Services Committee, Registration Committee etc.

Student Council – is the democratically constituted government of the collegiate student body.  It is founded on the principle of the student representation and service to society.  All bonafide students of SSC are members of the Student Council.  All powers of the Student Council emanate from the studentry.  The Student Council shall at all times protect and uphold the democratic rights and welfare of the students.  It is dedicated to the promotion of social awareness and involvement among the students of the College Unit.

The Executive Board (EB) of the Student Council is composed of the President, Internal Vice-President, External Vice-President, Student Organization Chairperson, Secretary General, Finance Office and Batch Representatives.  Consultative assemblies of the EB are the Council of Leaders comprised of all organization presidents, the Council of Representatives comprised of all class representatives, and the Batch Councils comprised of all batch secretaries and treasurers.

The Scholastican or TS – is the official quarterly student publication of the College Unit of SSC.  The literary folio, Tanglawan/Deluge is also published annually by the TS editorial and publication staff.

PAX - is the yearbook of the graduating class.  It has an Editorial Board made up of students who passed the screening procedures and qualifying examinations set by the previous school year's Editorial Board.
