1. School Uniform - The SCC grade school uniform serves as an identification of a grade school Scholastican. The complete and proper uniform to be worn on class days consists of: (see Grade School uniform) a) The Blouse - a.1 White with ruffles (not pleats) along the collar and sleeves a.2 It has a string sewn at the back of the blouse which is to be tied snugly and not loosely around the waist to hold blouse in place so as to keep sides tucked neatly into the skirt waistband and not hanging out loosely a.3 All buttons from neck down should be done up and the automatic snap under the left collar should always be snapped on b) The Jumper Skirt - b.1 Dark navy blue (material: ponte de roma) b.2 The straps should fit well on the torso. How to test if the strap is loose: Take each strap at the point of the shoulders and pull up. If the strap comes up by more than 1 inch over the shoulders, then it is too loose. b.3 Grade badge is sewn onto the left strap and must be visible below the left collar (2 fingers above the chest strap). b.4 Chest strap must have 3 white buttons on each side. b.5 The waistband of the skirt should not be loose and should be at the waistline and not at hipline. b.6 Skirt line should be hanging well with nothing heavy in the pocket to cause the skirt line to lose its symmetry. b.7 The hemline should be no more or less than 2 inches after the kneecap (from the lowest point of the knee). c) Socks - c.1 Plain white socks with no logos, raffles/laces or embroidery designs of any kind. c.2 Socks which are more than 2 inches from the ankle bone should be folded and not rolled down; and those which are 2 inches from the ankle bone (from the highest point of the ankle bone) or shorter should be left unfolded. c.3 The following socks are not allowed - SPORTS SOCKS, TUBE SOCKS, and KNEE HIGHS. d) Shoes - d.1 Closed, low heeled (no more than 1 inch high), plain and black (including heels and thread) shoes. d.2 The following are not allowed - shoes with large buckles, suede shoes, nubuck, and bulldog shoes. 2. School I.D. - a) The school ID is considered part of the daily school uniform and, therefore, students are required to wear their identification cards for as long as they are within school premises. b) The ID is worn with the official school ID lace and ID protector; and should be kept free of stickers, non-regulation pins or clips. c) If a student forgets her ID, she must secure immediately an admission slip from the Office of the Student Services in order to be admitted to her class. d) For lost ID, the student must submit a letter written by the parent requesting for a new ID and stating the reason of lost. This letter is submitted to the Class Adviser who notes it. Then this letter is submitted to the Business Office upon payment for a new ID. Both the letter and receipt of payment is submitted to the DOIT Office who immediately issues the new ID to the student. e) Students who are caught using the ID of another student or their own ID when they were in a different grade level will be meted the appropriate sanction. 3. Grooming - a) No tattoos b) Elaborate or outrageous haircuts/hairstyles are not allowed as well as boy-cut style. c) Hair color or streaks are not allowed. d) Hair accessories should be in white, black or dark navy blue. Fancy and distracting hair accessories are not allowed. e) For the jewelry - students are allowed to wear a simple watch and one pair of simple inexpensive earrings. Bangles, trinkets and expensive jewelry are unacceptable for school wear.
4. Cellphones - a) No cellphones in school. The school has revised the policy on this that even during fieldtrips, outreach activities, and on long trips, students are not allowed to bring their cellphones. Teachers have their cellphones which can be used in case of an emergency. In school, the students are allowed to use the phone in the Grade School Office as well as parents can communicate with their children in emergency cases through the phone in the Grade School Office. Telephone numbers: (632) 524-7686 locals 497 and 498. b) A student caught bringing her cellphone to school will get a written warning as well as the cellphone is confiscated and returned only to the parent after a parent conference has been done. On the second offence, the cellphone is confiscated and returned only at the end of the school year. The student gets the appropriate sanction for this offence. 5. Campus Cleanliness - Help keep your campus clean by throwing waste paper and crushed paper cups in the trash can and by returning empty bottles to the bottle case. Make it a point to pick up any litter you see around you. Violation of the waste management scheme will be handled by the CA. 6. School Bell - You are expected to know and observe the meaning of the school bells. a) The bell in the morning rings two times. The first bell is the sign for lining-up. b) Second bell means complete silence. (Talking, reading, giggling and eating should be avoided). The teacher gives the signal to pass when the students are ready. Students should not pass without the teacher. c) The first bell in the afternoon is a signal for you to get yourself ready for the afternoon classes. A second bell is rang to signal complete silence. d) A very long ring of the bell means emergency. Listen for instructions from your teacher. Be alert. Don't panic. 7. Line Formation - You are assigned a permanent place in the line. President in front, Vice- President at the back and Representative in the middle. Join the line on time. Avoid talking when in line, especially when walking along the school passages so as not to disturb the classes that are going on. Late comers should stay at the end of the line. 8. Flag Ceremony - On Mondays, at Morning Praise, there is a formal flag-raising ceremony. Show due respect to our flag by standing at attention and participating in the singing of our National Anthem and in reciting the Pledge. If you arrive while the ceremony is going on, you need not go to your line. Stay where you are until the ceremony is over, then join your class. 9. Staircases and Corridors - a) Talk in moderate tones and refrain from loitering or running along passages. Go up and down the staircase slowly and carefully. Always keep right when going up and down the staircase. b) Greet your teachers and elders whenever and wherever you meet them. Always stop to give way to your school official, teachers and elders. Passing between two persons in conversation is impolite. c) Playing and eating on the staircase and along the corridor are not allowed. Otherwise, the school ID will be confiscated. 10. Off-limit Areas - Except for special reasons the following places are off-limits to the graders. a) College building and grounds b) High School building and grounds c) Faculty rooms d) Pre-school (off-limits for Grades 4-6 students) e) Corridor between the Principal's Office and the Faculty Rooms. 11. Bulletin Boards - a) During the day make it a point to read the general announcement board and your grade level bulletin board. Do not tamper with any notices. b) Bulletin boards are for official use only. However, a student who wishes to write notices on any of the boards must ask permission from the office of Student Services. c) Blackboards used by the clubs should be kept clean and orderly. 12. Lost and Found Articles - Respect the property of others. Found articles should be brought to the Office of the Maintenance Supervisor. All lost articles may be claimed during recess and after classes from the same office. No article will be released without the proper description by the claimant. The school cannot be held responsible for any losses of books, bags or personal articles. Valuable things should not be brought to school. a) Cases of lost articles should immediately be reported to your Class Adviser, stating the time of loss, and description of the lost article. b) The Class Adviser informs the Head Teacher who should immediately conduct an investigation of the case. c) All losses are reported to the Assistant to the Principal for Student Services by the Head Teacher. 13. Recess Time - You are expected to spend recess time for eating and to observe the NO PLAYING policy. Stay away from classrooms where classes are going on. Eat at the lunch counters or in the canteen. Squatting on the paved areas is unhealthy. When it is raining, you may eat in the classroom. If a student is caught breaking this rule a warning will be given. If repeated, disciplinary measures will be taken by the Class Adviser. 14. Lunch Break - At the beginning of the school year, you are assigned places in the canteen or lunch counter. It is your responsibility to keep your respective lunch areas clean after eating. It is prohibited to sit and eat on the pavements. Students are permitted to go home for lunch only after presenting a formal written request from the parents. 15. DEAR Time - DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time is allocated exclusively for reading. Personal necessities and other business should be conducted at other times. 16. Loitering Outside the School Campus - The school is concerned about your personal safety. Unless expressly permitted by your parents, you are not allowed to leave the campus anytime between your arrival and your dismissal. All students must go to their respective gates after classes. While waiting to be fetched, you may not go in and out of the school gate nor loiter around the campus. The school guard has the authority to reprimand you and confiscate your ID. Permission to leave the campus during class hours needs the approval of the Assistant to the Principal for Students' Services. The security guard may not allow anyone to leave the campus without the out-of-campus permit. The school discourages hanging around snack shops and stores in the vicinity of the school for security and health reasons. It has the right to declare any neighboring establishments off-limits for good reasons. 17. Parties and Blow-outs - Birthday parties are not allowed in school. 18. Assemblies - At all times observe decorum in assemblies and other school gatherings. Stand up when greeting the President, the Principal or the guest of honor. Maintain silence and listen attentively to the speaker. Applaud properly at the proper time. Leave the assembly place quietly and in order. 19. Class Excursions and Field Trips - Joining class excursions, field trips and other out-of- school activities will require parents' written permission. During such activities, do not leave the main group without the approval of your Class Adviser or the Subject Teacher in charge. Any reported misbehavior is subject to disciplinary action. 20. Suspension of Classes - a) Typhoon signal NO.1 automatically cancels Prep classes for that day. b) Typhoon signal No.2 automatically cancels classes for that day. There is no need to call the school for verification. Whenever necessary, announcements regarding resumption or suspension of classes shall be disseminated through radio and television announcements and circulars or special bulletins issued by the school administration. c) When you are in school and classes are suspended in the middle of the day, just stay in your respective classrooms. Your teachers will make sure that you are properly picked up, paged, fetched or brought home. The proper SOP must be followed by all. 21. Change of Telephone Number or Home Address - Notify your Class Adviser immediately regarding any change in your telephone number or home address. This is important for communication and record purposes. 22. On Visitors, Parents, Guardians, Yayas Coming to School - a) You may not bring any outsider or visitor inside the school without permission from the Principal. b) Parents, guardians and domestic helpers are not allowed to wait for their children or wards on the school campus. It is only for serious health reasons and after consultation with the Assistant to the Principal for Students' Services that a special pass is issued to those concerned. 23. Appointments - Parents who wish to confer with any administrator or teacher should make an appointment through the class adviser. The appointment is made at least three (3) days before the conference. |
