School of Music | Master
of Music major in Piano Pedagogy
General Description
The Master of Music, major
in Piano Pedagogy is a two-year course of study designed to provide
students with a broader perspective/knowledge of the various skills
and techniques in piano pedagogy. While sustaining a tradition
of excellence in music performance, SSC's School of Music in the
past twenty (20) years, has developed a second emphasis in the field
of piano pedagogy (studio teaching). This expansion in thrust
is paralleled by a remarkable growth in its library holdings such
that a resource center for Piano Pedagogy was established for use of
alumnae and others. The School of Music's existing network of
music preparatory programs, performance groups, current
technological equipment, among others, all stand
ready to serve the laboratory phases of the curricula in the
graduate level. Lastly, with its outstanding faculty, SSC's
School of Music is in a position to offer a graduate program in
Piano Pedagogy in response
to requests made by numerous individuals and alumnae who desire to
pursue post graduate studies in Music. With this graduate
program, SSC can make significant contributions to the musical life
and development of the country.
