   REC IV Students’ Immersion with Aeta Community

The High School Outreach Program as implemented by the High School Outreach Committee covers all socially-oriented projects and activities of the High School Unit.   The activities under the program are geared towards promoting a just, equitable, and humane society, in accordance with the vision-mission and goals of the institution and in keeping with the themes for the different school years.

OBJECTIVES

The Outreach Program aims to:

4 encourage the participation of
       the high school community (students, parents, teachers, staff, etc.) in social
       development work.

      4 work with community-based people's organizations and institutions (GOs and NGOs) in
       their efforts to promote a just, peaceful, loving, equitable and humane society.
 

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

A.  Volunteer Formation Program    


Disability Orientation with Pinoy May Kapansanan (PMK)

The Volunteer Formation Program is an attempt to become more systematic in building a consciousness for a social development work among our faculty members. students and parents.  Program activities include leadership training seminars, disability orientations, immersions, and exposure-integration trips to various institutions and communities.

B.  Education and Advocacy Program

The Education and Advocacy Program seeks to encourage members of the high school community to take positive action towards pressing issues facing our society today.  Activities include seminars and workshops, discussion groups, and information dissemination drives.

Kulandungan

  Kulandunga Series: Focused Group Discussions 
The Kulandong ("shelter") was constructed by the High School Outreach as a venue for one of its projects - the Kulandungan.  The Kulandungan is a form of focused-group discussion on various socially-relevant issues affecting the country.  The Project seeks to encourage members of the high school community to thoroughly discuss pressing issues facing the Philippine society with the end view of making a creative positive response thereafter.



Regular Saturday Tutorials (Integration with clubs)
The Supplementary Education Program or SEP is designed to enrich the formal classroom education by providing relevant education for the unit's adopted and partner communities.  SEP also seeks to assist community-based organizations in their efforts to increase literacy in the community by offering scholarship programs and conducting tutorial sessions to elementary and high school students.

Specific to the faculty, the SEP also provides tutorials to inmates who are in need of basic education.

C.  Special Activities Program

   Habitat for Humanity 
The Special Activities Program is an extension of the High School Outreach, which answers to the needs of the school and larger communities through the Medical and Dental missions, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, fundraising activities, relief operations, livelihood programs, rummage sales, and scholarship programs.
