SSC HIGH SCHOOL – STUDENT COUNCIL ORGANIZATION I Election of Student Leaders I Impeachment of Student Leaders I Student's Rights and Responsibilities I
The Student Council Organization (SCO) is the High School students' governing body with its officers duly elected by the Student body every year. Membership1. All students of the High School Department are considered members of the Student Council Organization. However, as part of the school's democratic process, student may choose to be inactive members. 2. All officers (Core, Class and Club) are duly elected by the student body. General Functions1. The SCO Core - is composed of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Club Coordinating Chairperson, Outreach Student Coordinator and Batch Representatives (Years I to IV). Together with the CSA and with approval of Administration, they: a) plan and set major activities and other institutional student activities for the year b) plan and execute formation/development programs for student leaders c) facilitate communication between students and the administration, faculty, parents, fellow students and the rest of the Scholastican community d) promote and protect student welfare and rights e) help implement school rules and regulations f) represent the student body in the decision-making of the school through the Expanded Administrative Council 2. SCO Members a) actively support and participate/involve themselves in student activities b) comply and cooperate with school policies, rules and regulations c) participate in the school's decision-making process especially in policies directly affecting the students. d) act as official representatives of the school Special Functions Specific Functions1. SCO CORE MEMBERS a) President n presides over all meetings of the SCO n presents suggestions, recommendations and decisions of the sea to the Administration and teachers and in turn, receives and presents the Administration's and teachers' recommendations to the SCO n coordinates club and SCO-sponsored activities n initiates activities for better community growth n promotes awareness of, commitment to, involvement in, and solidarity with communities within and beyond SSC b) Vice-President n assists the President and assumes responsibilities in her absence n attends to matters concerning student welfare n promotes awareness of and involvement in social issues c) Secretary n keeps the minutes of meetings and furnishes the Administrators, faculty, and the SCO President with copies of said minutes n checks attendance/calls the roll during meetings and keeps a record of the attendance of members n publishes the decisions and projects of the SCO n posts announcements and notices of meetings on the bulletin board d) Treasurer n takes charge of financial matters that concern SCO n submits the annual report of the funds of the SCO at the end of the year e) Year-Level Representative n is responsible for relaying all important, relevant, and urgent information to the class presidents of the year level she represents n initiates, facilitates and coordinates year-level activities n assists in academic/homeroom activities when necessary or requested f) The Club Coordinating Chairperson n plans with the club officers the activities of the various clubs/organizations n oversees club activities n together with the club officers evaluates club activities g) Outreach Student Coordinator n facilitates and coordinates all student activities and projects of the Outreach 2. OTHER MEMBERS a) The Class and Club Presidents n represent their respective classes and clubs in all SCO meetings n channel information from the SCO to their classes and in turn present suggestions, reactions, and recommendations of their classes/clubs to the SCO n spearhead the participation of their classes/clubs in activities sponsored by the SCO and other school-sanctioned activities b) The Class/Club Vice-President n assumes the responsibility of the class/club President in her absence n the Class VP checks the daily attendance, submits a report of absences and late comings every morning before the end of the period, and submits the class clipboard with the daily attendance record to the CSA's office at dismissal time n takes care of logistic requirements (reservations etc.) c) The Class/Club Secretary n takes the attendance in all meetings n takes down the minutes of every meeting, including Homeroom meetings, and keeps record of these minutes n provides copies of these minutes to class adviser/moderator and Administration n posts official notices and announcements on the club/class board d) The Class Treasurer n takes charge of all financial matters n collects reply slips of all circulars Qualifications1. General All SCO Core members and other class/club officers must demonstrate: a) respect for human dignity, Christian concern for and sincere service to others in the community b) appreciation of their Filipino cultural heritage c) good academic standing: n no grade lower than 80 in any subject n a conduct average of G and no grade of P in any quarter d) no disciplinary record in the school year immediately preceding nominations e) leadership qualities f) good public relations 2. Other Qualifications of SCO Core Members a) President n must be a Senior n must have been a class officer or active member of a club in her Junior Year b) Vice-President n must be a Junior or Senior n must be conversant with current events, social issues and student concerns
