High School Student Organizations are set up along social, cultural, spiritual, literary, athletic, educational and recreational lines. At present, there are twenty-nine (29) clubs under the Student Activity Program. These are: Spiritual Formation Clubs 1. Benedictine Circle - Benedictine Circle is a duly recognized co-curricular club of the Christian Living Education Area. It is in line with the area’s objectives of helping students encounter themselves and Jesus, be educated in faith, live out Benedictine values, celebrate the sacraments, make good and responsible decisions and become people for others and agents of social transformation. The club is open to individuals who are willing to serve God and are open to a conversion of the heart. 2. KAPATID MUSIC MINISTRY - LITURGICAL SERVICES are the celebrations of the Church, that is, of the People of God, united under and directed by the bishop or priest. The priest and his ministers, because of the sacred order they have received, hold a special place in those celebrations as do also – by the reason of the ministry – the servers, readers, commentators and those in the choir. The above quotation from the General Norms on Sacred Music recognizes the ministerial function of KAPATID as a choir in the service of the Lord and the community. Given this responsibility, its main function is to enhance the Liturgical celebration through music, by leading the community in singing and initiate animations so as to participate fully, consciously and actively in every liturgical and extra-liturgical celebrations. As a ministry, the club seeks to deepen the member’s understanding of their exalted function with a holistic approach through liturgical and musical formation. It also puts premium on the continuous spiritual formation of the club members. This is to enable them to bear witness to witness Jesus Christ’s love and goodness as they put into practice Benedictine values like prayer, love, sharing, humility, service, simplicity of lifestyle, community life and many others, in order to contribute to the building of a Christian community. KAPATID is open to all year levels. It is composed of instrumentalists and vocalists who meet regularly two (2) times a week (Monday and Friday) for voice lessons, song practices, on-going formation and Friday for regular club hour. 3. MAGNIFICAT - Magnificat is a co-curricular club of the Christian Living Education Area. The main objective is to help the High School Community realize its thrust in educating young women to become agents for social transformation, living out Ora et Labora, thus become Christ-centered, through the life and witnessing of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is more than an organization but a womb of a loving mother: caring and nurturing, sacrificing and all-embracing; a family whose purpose is the holistic growth of an individual – a home where the students can be what they ought to be; a living Church where they can share in the three-fold mission of Jesus Christ: as priest, prophet and king. Service Clubs 1. Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) - The GSP is a service/enrichment club of the PEHM Area. Its mission is to help Scholasticans realize their ideals of womanhood and prepare themselves for their responsibilities in the home, the nation and the world community. The club envisions young women who are progressive, dynamic, proactive, patriotic and God-loving. Several activities of the SSC-GSP' are coordinated with the regional and national activities of the GSP. 2. PROJECT EARTH (Environmental Awareness and Readiness to Help) - Project E.A.R.T.H., a co-curricular program of the Science Area, is the high school department’s arm in enforcing its commitment to the call for pro-environmental awareness and action. It is dedicated to the task of enabling its members (Earth Watchers) to become Scholasticans who are critically aware of the present realities of environmental crises and are equipped with the appropriate and ecologically-safe technological know-how to become scientifically literate and creative. Activities of the club include 1) promotion of ecological well being through information disseminating geared towards the protection and restoration of Mother Earth, 2) initiation of conferences, contests, congress and pro-environment campaigns, 3) visitation/exposure trips to forest, marine and other areas of concern, 4) sponsorship of an Outreach activities to communities needing help regarding their natural environment, 5) spearheading of a Cleanliness Campaign and the construction of ecological gardens/animal sanctuaries and 6) development of environmental awareness and advocacy of its members. Aside from regular club meetings, Earth Watchers are assigned to monitor maintenance of cleanliness in the high school area during break times. 3. PEER COUNSELING CLUB - The Peer Counseling Club is a service and people oriented club which aims to help students understand themselves and their peers better. The club provides training and workshops which will equip aspiring peer counselors the basic facilitating skills and qualities necessary in a helping profession. Academic Clubs 1. MATH CLUB - The Upsilon Mu Gamma is an organization committed to render sincere service to the Scholastican communities by: 1) sponsoring Math competitions to enhance students’ capabilities; 2) holding interactions with other Math clubs to exchange ideas and share activities for the club’s improvement; 3) conducting reviews to prepare fellow Scholasticans for college entrance tests and quarterly examinations; 4) coordinating with the Outreach program’s Supplementary Education in Pandacan Riles (Outreach community) to share knowledge in Math to elementary school children and 5) organizing “Reach Out” activity with La Salle Greenhills’ Math Advancement Society, to bring Christmas joy to less fortunate children of Metro Manila. To become a member of the club, she must pass the screening determined by the Core Committee; must have a grade of 80 and above in her last year’s Math subject; may have a line of 7 in her last year’s grade in other subject provided her year-end grade must be 80 and above; and are required to submit a photocopy of her last year’s report card. *SIGMA MU – is the training team of the Math Club. Membership is invitational; students with proficiency and aptitude in the different Math subjects are invited to join the group upon recommendation of the Math teachers. 2. SCIENCE CLUB - The Science Club aims to encourage interest in Science and its application, and promote social awareness among members of the student body. It seeks to provide venues for intellectual integration and to develop community spirit within the school, with other clubs or organizations with the same objectives. It is also responsible for organizing and presiding over science-oriented activities, events and other concerns. These include such activities such as the Annual Pasiyensiyahan, Year Level Science Lecture Series, and many others. * SCIENCE TRAINING PROGRAM - is the training team of the Science Club. Membership is invitational; students with proficiency and aptitude in the different Science subjects are invited to join the group upon recommendation of the Science teachers. 3. KAMPIL - KAMPIL is an organization that seeks to promote and instil social awareness and to develop an appreciation of Filipino culture among the students. It provides a venue for the discussion of relevant issues, both national and global, allowing students to exercise their right to freedom of expression. The club has various activities, which are socially relevant. Through these, the club wishes to impart social consciousness to its members, helping them to become involved, hoping that sometime in the future, they can make a difference in society. The KAMPIL is also active in the Outreach Program activities and there are meetings scheduled during Saturdays. All members are expected to participate in KAMPIL activities. The club officers and members meet once every week (Club Hour). The moderator sets special meetings if there are projects that need to be implemented. These special meetings are usually set after classes (4:00pm-5:00pm) so that their attendance at regular classes is not disturbed. 4. YOUNG SCIENTISTS’ CLUB - The Young Scientists’ Club is an organization which aims to equip students with skills, values and knowledge necessary to make them useful citizens capable of bringing about change in the world by: giving opportunity to science- inclined and potentially science-gifted students to actually do science through conduct of various and latest investigatory researchers; enhancing students’ learning and appreciation of science and technology through researches and experimentation; training students in doing researches that would somehow prepare them in their future needs and endeavor, and preparing and producing graduates who would be agents of societal change through science and technology. The Young Scientists’ Club has many activities such as: exposure trips to research laboratories; research training; produce scientific and quasi-investigatory researches concerning the immediate environment and/or the community; join science project contests sponsored by the DOST; write scientific researches; sponsor workshop on conducting a research, and interaction with students of science schools. Performing Arts 1. GLEE CLUB - The Glee Club aims to hone the members' musical skills especially in singing, and to develop their self-confidence through stage performances as well as choral competitions. It provides the students with proper vocal and ear training techniques through weekly rehearsals/workshops. The club also gives the students the chance to be exposed to a wide range of choral musical repertoire and literature. Rehearsal schedules: Tuesday/Thursday; 5:00pm-7:00pm Extra rehearsals will be requested during competition and concert season 2. DANCE CLUB - The High School Dance Club is an organization committed to developing and honing its members’ 1) abilities to execute artistic, creative and rhythmic expression through various dances; 2) dancing skills through new approaches and styles, 3) physical and emotional fitness while expressing the self through dance, 4) appreciation of our Filipino cultural heritage expressed in social and folk dances, 5) collaborative and team spirit during rehearsals and performances. The Dance Club shares itself with the community through active participation in departmental and institutional shows. The club also participates in non-SSC sponsored but school-sanctioned shows.
Aside from the club hour, the Dance Club holds additional rehearsals on a per
need basis 3. CURTAIN CALL - The Curtain Call is the recognized drama club of High School Unit. It is an educational club that is dedicated to the use of theatre as supplementary intellectual training for the students and the use of theatre as means to attain the ideals of a nationalist, progressive, scientific, just, god-fearing and humane society. The Curtain Call meets every Wednesday during club hour. However, the thespians shall be required to meet during rehearsals for scheduled productions. The tasked Production Managers shall, schedule and call the rehearsals. This school year, the Curtain Call has planned three major productions to be staged in the months of September, December and March. Communication/Literary Arts Clubs 1. BLUE FLAME (Campus Journalism) - The Blue Flame aims to provide a venue fur the development of the writing, reporting, and journalistic skill of its members. The club has taken upon itself the responsibility to expose the students to the forms of writing which are essential in the different parts of a newspaper. The students are trained to write objectively, as news writing requires it, and at the same time, are given the venue to express themselves through free writing. The Blue Flame meets regularly during Club hour. However, the members shall also be required to meet during the production of an issue. When the need arises, their respective editors will call meetings. This year, the Blue Flame editorial board includes the members of Pluma or Filipino Forensics. Ang Samahang Pluma ay isa sa mga binuong samahan sa ilalim ng pamamatnubay ng mga guro ng asignaturang Filipino. Layunin ng samhang ito na malinang ang mga kaalaman at kasanayan sa pagbasa at pagsulat na natutuhan ng mga mag-aaral sa pag- aaral ng WIKA at PANITIKAN. Upang higit na maitaguyod ang wikang Filipino, patuloy na hahasain sa pamamagitan ng mga palihan at dagdag na oryentasyon ang kakayahan ng mga kasapi nang sa gayo'y makalikha ng makabuluhan at malikhaing mga akda o sulatin. Ang mga ito ay siya namang gagamitin bilang mga pangunahing akda o lathalain para sa mga pangkagarawan at pang-institusyonal na pagdiriwang, pahayagang pampaaralan at taunang palilimbag ng mga tinipong sulating pampanitikan ng mga mag-aaral. 2. DELTA CHI AVALON - Delta Chi is a duly recognized student organization of SSC High School Department. It is both a Varsity and Debate Club. It has its own autonomous structure and is composed of students from First to Fourth Years. Delta Chi Avalon is a co-curricular support program of the English subject area. It provides the needed avenue where the students can hone their public speaking and analytical skills. Debate requires the integration of all the cognate skills taught under the English area, like full grasp of the English language, grammar, logic, extemporaneous speaking, reasoning, speech writing and argumentation among others. In which case, the members undergo training in the different aspects of public speaking and debate. The club also aims to create a conducive atmosphere for free exchange of ideas on pressing issues affecting the youth of today. Delta Chi is a training ground for students to learn contemporary debate format styles and strategies. It maintains a Varsity Team whose aim is to continue the legacy of excellence in the High School Department in academic competitions here and abroad. This is to spread the Benedictine values, and that in all things, GOD MAY BE GLORIFIED! Training Schedule (for competing or performing members):
LUNCH SESSIONS: Monday to Friday 1 hour x 5 days 3. TINIG - Ang Samahang Tinig ay samahan sa ilalim ng Kagawaran ng Filipino. Ang samahang ito ay kumakatawan sa mga gawain na kaugnay sa pag-aaral ng asignaturang Wika at Panitikan. Ito ang nagsisilbing sangay na namamahala sa mga gawain na nagtatampok ng wikang sarili. Ang samahang ito ay nakikibahagi o nakikiisa sa iba’t ibang samahan para sa malawakang gawain maging ang gawain ng Outreach. Sa gayo’y itinataguyod nito nag tunguhin at misyon ng ating paaralan. Ang sinumang gustong sumali sa samahan ay mangyaring tingnan at basahin ang mga mahahalagang bagay sa anunsyong ginawa ng samahan na makikita sa bulletin board ng TINIG at ihanda ang sarili sa gagawing pagsubok o audition. Oras ng Pulong: Club Hour *maliban sa itinakdang pulong, kakailanganin pa rin ang mga kasaping mag-aaral sa mga paghahanda sa presentasyon, pagkakaroon ng seminar- workshop, programang pang-institusyon at mga gawain ng Outreach. 4. CREATIVE WRITERS’ GUILD - The Creative Writer’s Guild (CWG) is a club made up of students who have a love for writing. It is a club wherein students are encouraged to express themselves and explore life through poetry, short stories and creative non-fiction essays. In this club, they have the opportunity to communicate their significant human experiences and share their art to the rest of the high school community through regular publication in the Blue Flame, a literary folio, poetry readings, and quarterly newsletters. CWG is a group of aspiring writers, and because of this, it is dedicated to honing the craft of its members through various activities like writing workshops and seminars on Philippine literature, poetry and fiction writing, etc., and through the reading of good literature. It is dedicated to helping its members develop literary standards that they will strive to meet in their works, and consequently, to find their own voice that is uniquely female and Filipino. The club aims to inspire in its members an openness towards learning to become better writers. The club seeks to achieve this by encouraging them to pay closer attention to their surroundings and their sensory experiences, by giving them the opportunity to read and evaluate each other’s works in a workshop setting, and to share their art in a community of fellow writers. It also aims to promote the acceptance of the experience of art as something that is not isolating or elitist but one that brings forth a deeper awareness of one’s environment and social realities. CWG believes that creating literary works is an activity geared towards the understanding of the self and of one’s relationships, and, ultimately, of humanity. Athletics 1. SPORTS CLUB - The Sports Club as an extension of the High School P. E. program. It has different teams in such events as Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming and Field Hockey. As an added activity and enrichment to the club, the club accepts honorary members in both team and individual events like Lawn tennis, Table tennis, Badminton, Gymnastics, etc. Students who already train in these sports outside of SSC may participate or join any national or international competition as official representatives of SSC. The teams will also be composed of Team A (Regular/Varsity) and Team B (Developmental Training Team).

5:00pm-7:00pm 2. PEP SQUAD - Pep Squad is an organization which is mainly involved in highlighting the talents and skills in the field of cheerdancing and cheerleading. The club is divided into groups: dancers, voice and gymnasts. The Dance Training Program consists of flexibility/stretching exercises; strengthening exercises; conditioning/endurance exercises, dance routine and stunt practices while the Voice Training Program is divided into 3 categories, namely: the cheerleaders, writers and drummers. Special Interest Clubs 1. CULINARY ARTS CLUB (CAC) - Students have a natural curiosity about cooking. Many kids, just like grown-ups, even enjoy watching cooking shows on television. While some children may not seem to care about cooking at all, in this case students need a nudge of encouragement as a helping hand to walk them through the basics. Thus, the CAC is the non-academic club offered to all year levels and it is geared towards giving the students exposure in cooking through cooking demonstrations, trip to food establishments and cooking/baking seminars. CAC will further enrich their skills and knowledge, show and share their talents in cooking through catering food in school functions, participate in the weekly hands-on cooking sessions and other club activities. 2. ART CLUB - The Art Club is geared towards developing and honing the artistic skills of students. Club members will be trained in the different techniques in drawing, painting and lettering. The club members will also be trained in making different crafts. Additional meetings will be held when the club has special projects such as those requested by other sectors of the high school unit (SCO, Outreach) and the Institution. 3. COMPUTER CLUB - The Computer Club aims to develop members who are knowledgeable and competent with information technology as a tool for learning, in the pursuit of what is true, good and beautiful. In order to realize this vision, the clubs commits itself to vigorously support and sustain the conviction, involvement and commitment of the student body to the highest standards of academic excellence through inquiry, training, group interaction, special projects, and values formation of its members on the use of information technologies. It further commits to develop its members to be of service to their communities, both inside and outside of SSC. 4. FILM CLUB - The Film Club is a student organization that serves as a venue for the exposure to study and creation of media forms. Members will be introduced to the different media fields, particularly radio, television and film. The basics of photography and video graph will also be studied. It helps student to learn the basic techniques of video production. It will make you aware of the current situation of the media today. The Film Club is open to all high school students who are interested in films and filmmaking. Knowledge and experience gained from the club will be an advantage no matter what field and course members will later engage in. Activities in the club includes film viewing and critique sessions; production workshops, and studio tour. Apart from the regular Club hour meeting, training workshop will be scheduled on Saturdays. 5. FOREST CLUB - A club composed of Scholasticans aged 13-16 years old who love and respect nature especially the Forest. They must believe that they have a Responsibility towards the protection and conservation of the environment especially our Forest. Their mission-vision: "Heal what is Wounded, Restore what is Lost, Give Life to what is destroyed." Activities include teaching/educating kids about our forests, providing assistance to students or groups of people in their pursuit for a greener environment or in trying to save an endangered environment, tree planting, forest tripping and other fun-filled adventure type forest activities. Truly committed and actively participating in above-mentioned activities, they become our only Hope for the Seeds. 6. GABRIELA YOUTH - GABRIELA Youth is the most tangible way not only of simply trumpeting our concern for women’s issues but also of acting on these issues. This is also the philosophy and one of the objectives of the High School Unit which is to transform students who are critically aware of their surroundings and conversant on national issues confronting them and most of all liable on all their actions to change the society’s view of women to effect an ideal society of peacemakers. Because of the awareness campaigns and continuous studies of the organization on the place of women in our society, members are expected to regain their dignity as women and make them realize that they are an integral part of a changing society and they play a vital role in the formation of a brighter future for a better Philippines. Women nowadays should be seen not only as cradle – rockers but also as formators of human intellect and emotional capacities to respond to all that is going on in our society and where effective measures should be done in order to change a society worthy of the trust given to us by God as His stewards. 7. YOUNG MENTORS’ CLUB - The Young Mentors' Club aims to train young students who aspire to become educators/teachers in the future. The members undergo actual teacher training in view of general principles of education and the particular disciplines of the different subject areas. Activities and programs are designed on two levels: Teacher Training (includes education principles, mock and actual classroom setting, tutorial sessions etc.) and Enrichment (art appreciation, field trips, readings on such areas as Literature, Science, current events, and education-related articles) 8. PAGE TURNERS' LIBRARY CLUB - The Page Turners' Library Club (PTLC) is an organization composed of efficient and devoted high school students from first to fourth year levels. The club aims to help students develop, increase, stimulate and improve their reading habits so that they may grow in critical judgement and appreciation. The club also guides its members to facilitate school-community projects through internal and external activities. It also directs itself to building the spirit of camaraderie among different year levels and with other school library clubs. 9. YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS CLUB - The Young Entrepreneurs Club (YES) is an “adventure” club tasked to conceive ideas for business, design plans, organize a company, study and create markets, take risks of marshalling material and human resources in producing and selling new goods and services for profit.

advocates self-reliance, independence, economy, responsible behavior, 10. TRAVEL AND TOURISM CLUB (TRIPS) - TRIPS is created to give the students an alternative way of being historically aware and environmentally responsible. The club aims to expose the students to different tourist sites that form part of Philippine and World History. The students will learn the historical background and relevance of a featured destination. By instilling “responsible tourism”, they are made stewards for the preservation of our heritage and environment. As a highlight, the students will be exposed to the dimensions of the tourism industry – an industry that feature the social, economic and environmental impacts of development and marketing. Some destinations that the club will visit include the Barasoain Church and the site of Biak-na-Bato in Bulacan; Aguinaldo Shrine in Cavite; the different churches in Laguna; Vigan, Ilocos Sur; Intramuros, Manila and Corregidor, Batangas. |
