SSC Centennial Singing Idols Grand Finals

The Centennial Singing Idol Double Finals – divided into two categories:
Personnel and Student Divisions

As St. Scholastica's College celebrates its centenary, the Centennial Committee, along with the Junior Association of Management (JAM), held the most awaited double grand finals of the SSC Centennial Singing Idols last December 6, 2006 at the jam-packed St. Cecilia's Hall.

The organizers of the event invited well-known personalities from the music industry to serve as judges.  Kyla, dubbed as Philippines' R&B Princess, Ms. Mark Anthony Carpio, UP College of Music Professor and Mr. Jimmy Bondoc, Acoustic Artist comprised the panel of judges. 

Ten (10) contenders vied for the titles.  The competition was divided into two categories, namely, the Personnel and Student Divisions.  Each contestant was asked to render two songs - one upbeat and one instrumental.   Ms. Angelica Gonzales, College Accountancy professors, bested the four grand contenders in the Personnel Division, while Ms. Louise Lavinia Capuyon, a HIgh School graduating student, won the Student Division.

Other contenders for the title were Ms. Melinda Magallanes (Grade School), Ms. Evelyn Dungog (Office Personnel), Ms. Ma. Marilou Galvan (College Unit) and Ms. Genevieve Nagayo (Grade School) for the Personnel Division.  For the Student Division: Ms. Sherla Apolinar (BSC Ent 4A), Ms. Renerose Tan (BSC 206C, Ms. Ma. Katrina Andrea Tolentino (4ABMC Broadcast Journalism) and Ms. Jessica Cruz (BSC FM4A).

Centennial Committee chairperson Mrs. Louie Paraan and member Mr. Ramon Maņalac awarded the winners with trophies, certificates and cash prizes. 

As the event came to its end, Kyla and Mr. Jimmy Bondoc, to the ardent request of the audience, serenaded their fans with a christmas song.
