SSC signs MOA with Konyang University

Just as the academic community was about to start with the long Christmas break last December 21, 2006, guests from Konyang University (KU),  headed by no less than its President, Dr. Hi-Soo Kim came to the Philippines to formalize its twinning agreement  with St. Scholastica’s College, Manila on  a  Shared-Degree Program in Bachelor of Arts in English. After two years of study in their home school where students will have to complete their English major subjects,   KU students shall be admitted by SSC as their host school to take the General Education Core (GEC) subjects in campus for two years  to comply with the academic requirements for the degree in AB in English. Students will be granted the degree by both institutions with both Presidents signing their diploma.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) includes a GEC curriculum especially designed for the KU students, specific implementing guidelines, terms and conditions to ensure that standards of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED),  of SSC and of the Bureau of Immigration are met by the visiting students. The first batch is expected to enroll beginning June of SY 2007-2008.

and computer rooms just before the formal signing which took place at St. Paul Boardroom.  Present during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement were  Hi-Soo Kim, M.D., President of Konyang University, Prof. Jason Kim, Dean of Konyang Graduate School and Chair of their Department of English and Foreign Language with Dr. Hermelo Cervantes of FAECE (Foundation for the Advancement of Education and Cultural Exchange, Inc) based in Manila. SSC was represented by her President, Sr. M. Angelica Leviste, OSB, VPAA Sr. Mary Vincent Feliciano, OSB;  the Dean of Commerce, Dr. Remedios Ching; Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences, Mrs. Ma. Asuncion Azcuna; Admissions Officer, Mrs. Chloe Ramos; English Department Chair, Mrs. Louie Agnir-Paraan and the Registrar, Ms. Ma. Humildad F. Claro.
