Last December 19-20, 2006, the Scholastican community had its traditional Institutional Peace Camp entitled “Heralds of Peace and Joy” in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. This was an overnight activity that was highlighted by a program, the traditional “Panunuluyan” and a Dawn Mass.

The Grade School Campus Ministry led the invocation at 5:00 PM of December 19. This was followed by the Christmas message from the School President, Sr. M. Angelica Leviste OSB.  The announcement of the winner of the “Name

Members of the High School Curtain Call performing this year's Panunuluyan

Our Centennial Mascot Contest” followed the message.  The winning name was “Ten-Ten”, the entry of Ms. Erika Louise Bernabe, a high school junior.

Together with Ten-Ten, the Centennial Singing Idols - Ms. Angelica Gonzales, a college professor from the School of Accountancy, Ms. Louise Capuyon, a high school senior, Ms. Charlotte Tsai and Ms. Patricia Isabel Villegas from the Grade School - serenaded the audience with their Christmas medley.  The High School Curtain Call performed this year’s “Panunuluyan”, a commemoration of the journey of Mary and Joseph on the first Christmas Eve. The first part of the program was capped by the audio-visual presentation prepared by the Audio Visual Center (AVC) featuring the highlights of the centennial celebration.

The second part of the program continued the spirit of community and celebration as the entire Scholastican community cheered the winning performances of DanzEdge and the High School Glee Club, beautiful production numbers from Tinig, the High School Faculty and the Night Secondary School students. “Manila, Manila”, the dance number that brought together the students of all three units was a rousing production with the special appearance of Ten-Ten.  Peppering the program with spunk and wit were the three hosts:  Ms. Tracy Manlangit from the College Unit, Ms. Christiana Montelibano from the High School Unit and Ms. Mikee de Vega from the Grade School Unit.

Finally, the audience sang and danced the night away as various bands performed songs for the community.  Among the bands were the General Services Band, Lollipop, Pergola, PedXing, and Youth for Christ band. The night ended with flickering candles and with everyone singing “Prayer for Peace” led by the Institutional Campus Ministry team.

The students woke up the next day to the sound of Christmas hymns playing at the field signaling the beginning of the 5:30 AM Institutional Dawn Mass which culminated the Peace Camp. The Mass was officiated by Fr. Anselm Manalastas, OSB.

Truly, the Peace Camp was all for the glory of our Messiah - the little Baby in the manger, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!

Over-all in charge of the Peace Camp was the Committee on Institutional Activities with representatives from the Institutional Campus Ministry, Audio-Visual Center, General Services Office, Student Affairs/Activities Offices of the three units, Security Office, Canteen and the Student Councils. Special thanks to the following student organizations which were part of the production team: Communications Society, Sining Tanghalan, Art Society, Youth for Christ and Psychology Society.
