Last  December 20, 2006, the Sisters, administrators, faculty and staff of St. Scholastica’s College came together for an Institutional Christmas Party aptly titled “mag-paSCHO-han tayo!” at the Sr. Kuinberta Hall.  Still riding high on the spirit of the centennial celebrations, the different faculty associations, staff associations and the Committee on Institutional Activities came together to plan the event which has not been seen at SSC for some years.

Starting off with a prayer service led by the High School Campus Ministry Office, the event immediately went to high gear as the emcees Yas Rodriguez (HS), Melmags Magallanes (GS), Renato David (General Services) and Portia Buenviaje (Office Personnel) regaled the audience with their humorous and witty banter.

Sr. Angelica Leviste, OSB, gave her Christmas message, also with her signature humor and wit.  This was followed by the audio visual presentation of the Centennial Highlights and the gift-giving of the Sisters for all their lay partners.  Aside from the “aguinaldo”, the Sisters gave everyone the book written by Sr. Soledad Hilado, OSB titled A Brief History of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters in the Philippines 1906-2006.

The next few hours saw the special numbers from the different units.  The College professors took the limelight as they took turns as game masters in several exciting games including everyone’s favorite, the Videoke Challenge!

The most awaited portion of the party was the raffle draw.  More than 100 raffle prizes were given away with the major prizes of a refrigerator going to Emy Barsigan and colored TV sets to  Dr. Renato Rosales and Artemia Victoria dela Cruz.  Raffle prizes were donated by generous souls led by the St. Scholastica’s Alumnae Foundation, Inc., Centennial College Parents’ Association, High School Parents’ Association, Grade School Parents’ Association, unit heads, school deans, Student Councils and many others who opted to remain anonymous.

Significantly, while the party was LONG on FUN, it cut its budget for food so that the associations can put aside the unspent amount to be donated to the typhoon victims in Bicol. Representatives from the different associations shall join the Social Action Center on the last week of February to bring their donation to the affected towns in the province of Albay.
