I-CATHY students win in Goldilocks Cake Decorating Competition

St. Scholastica's College has again proven their excellence in the culinary field when third year Institute for Catering Management and Hospitality Technology (I-CATHY) students, namely Ceejay Macalos, Kathleen Manzo, Kath Caranto and Shahani Yu bagged the first place in Goldilocks 2nd Cake Decorating Competition last February 11, 2007 held at the Activity Center of Glorietta Makati.   It was SSC’s first-time to join the competition with students from the College of St. Benilde, Lyceum, UST,  St. Anne of Lucena, OB Montessori, La Salle Dasma Cavite and Centro Escolar University.  Contestants had to come up with original designs covering four

different categories of cake decorating (Roll, Heart-shaped, 8 x 12 Rectangle and Round Cakes). Each team was given 90 minutes for execution.

I-CATHY students showed creativity, confidence, teamwork and displayed professionalism all throughout the contest.  The Scholasticans were awarded the Best Round Cake design and brought home Php10,000 Goldilock’s certificates and P50,000 worth of baking showcase.  The College of St. Benilde won in two categories (the Roll and 8 x 12 Rectangle Cakes) while Lyceum won in the Heart category. 

The four students were excited about their unexpected win and are looking forward to next year’s competition.
