SSC Manila was host to nine Fil-Am students and three administrators of the program Tagalog on Site (TOS) last July 21, 2006. Tagalog on Site is an eleven year old program that facilitates as six-week study visit to the Philippines for Filipinos born and raised in the United States. The Fil-Am students learn about Philippine language, history and culture in the classroom but more importantly are exposed to interactions with other students, communities and very interesting social relationships where they are encouraged to speak in Pilipino so as to polish their

Filipino language skills and attune themselves to the Philippine social milieu. The reaction of the Fil-Am students were invited to sit in two Philippine History classes taught by Ms. Fe Mangahas and Mr. Lars Ubaldo. The classes were conducted in Filipino. Both classes had an open forum. It was a most interesting learning exchange for the Fil-Am students and the Scholasticans.  As a finale, the Institute of Catering Management and Hospitality Technology (I-CATHY) and the Student Council treated our Fil-Am guests to a Filipino lunch and a brief interaction as well as a video of SSC that highlighted its history and well-known alumnae.
