Class Representatives formed the Council of Representatives (CORE), which is a very important arm of the College Student Council (CSC). The CORE serves as the liaison between the CSC and the students and also between the administration and the students.

Last September 9-10, 2006, the CORE had its Leadership Formation and Team Building Workshop at the Tagaytay Dacha Villas in Tagaytay City.  The theme of the training-workshop was “Benedictine Leadership as an Exemplar of Good Governance.” This annual activity is part of the Student Training and Development Program (STDP) of the Student Affairs Office (SAO), in coordination with the Student Council.

Sr. Lumen Gloria Dungca, OSB, Sub-Prioress of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of the Philippines, gave the thematic address.  Sr. Lumen gave the students an opportunity to practice “lectio divina”.

Other important resource persons were Atty. Koko Pimentel from the UP NCPAG who spoke about the national situation and the initiatives and programs of the National Youth Commission, and three former College Student Council officers, namely, Ms. Amelia Marcelino, SC 2003 President, who is now with Banco Central, Ms. Lia Lagarde, SC 2005 President, who currently works with ABC-5 and Ms. Margaux Umali, SC 2006 Student Organization Chairperson, who is presently working in John Clements.   The former student officers jointly facilitated the workshop on Basic Leadership Skills and enlivened the session with their own testimonials.

Planning by batches was undertaken after the Student Council presented its vision-mission and agenda for the school year. The former Student Council officers together with Ms. Bernadette Tuazon, also a former Internal Vice-President of the SC, comprised the appreciative Board of Judges during the Solidarity Night. The second year batch brought home the “prized snacks” for their rendition of the three focal points of the theme “Culture of Peace”, “Care for Mother Earth” and “Jubilee”.

Mrs. Rhodora F. Ferrer, opened the two-day event emphasizing the significant roles of Class Representatives in leading the basic unit of the student body, which is the class and urging them to be Credible, Open-minded, Responsible and Encouraging.
