BITS Organization Week

The Business and Information Society (BITS) celebrated its annual organization week last September 4 and 7, 2006.  The program opened with a symposium entitled “Current Trends in I.T.: 2006 and Beyond” held at the Battig Hall.  The symposium focused on current trends in information technology and the latest gadgets and software programs available in the market today.  Guest speaker , Enzacta Incorporated web and systems developer, discussed the evolution of technology and introduced to the students some amazingmobile features, super high-end technology gadgets, new desktop

processors, modern versions of JAVA and PHP, and the rise of the Ruby on Rails programming language and the Windows Vista, a new operating system of Microsoft in 3D effect features that will be officially launched at the end of this year.

The BITS Organization Week culminated with a get-together party with a variety show format held at the Sr. Caridad Barrion Hall.  The fun-filled and successful program was attended by the BITS members, department faculty and SSC administrators.

Computer competition winners were announced and awarded during the last leg of the program.  Ms. Tracie Flores, MIS4, won the Audio Visual Presentation Making, Ms. Julie Chavenia, BSTM4, bagged the Website Making and Ms. Mari Cherly Villanueva, BSTM4, won the Systems Making category.  The winners were presented with computer books courtesy of Jemma Inc. Publishing House and free 24/7 Nitro Internet Dial-up Access for 30 days certificates from Mozcom Nitro.

SSC’s home-grown talents, the PERGOLA band, performed and entertained the audience with their superb acoustic numbers. 

On September 1, 2006, BITS organized an I.T. Quiz Bee held at the Sr. Ehrentrudis Hall.  Ms. Ma. Kathrina Calvan, Ms. Jastine Marie Supleg and Ms. Iona Jonamae Galbaso of 116C were declared champions.  The contestants were awarded Php2,500 each, gold medals and 3 24/7 Free Nitro Dial-up Access from Mozcom Nitro.

The first place went to 106B, which is composed Ms. Daisy Joie Salaysay, Ma. Karina Cordova and Ms. Jaimie Balingcos.  The winners went home with Php1,500 each and silver medals.

The second place was bagged by 102C with Ms. Stephanie Bayle, Ms. Kristen Capili and Ms. Ann Rose Haoson who were awarded bronze medals and PhP1,000 each.  The 1st and 2nd placers also went home with 18 and 9 pieces of Internet cards worth Php50.00 each from Mozcom Nitro, respectively.
