Anatomy of Rape

St. Scholastica’s College is a women’s college that gives emphasis on academic excellence, social responsibility, culture and the arts, respect for the environment and advocacy for women’s empowerment.

Last September 1, 2006, a symposium entitled “Anatomy of Rape” was held at Sr. Kuniberta Hall.  The symposium was co-presented by the fourth year class of BS Psychology 401 and the Psychology Society.  Dr. Imelda Villar, SSC Chairperson of the Psychology Department and a prominent psychologist in the Philippines, gave the opening remarks.  Invited guest speaker was Dr. June Pagaduan, a psychiatrist, who is currently handling the case of two survivors of rape and “Nicole”, the alleged rape victim in the controversial Subic Rape Case.  Dr. Pagaduan’s talk focused on the adverse effects of rape among the victims and gave useful tips on what to do during an attempt of rape and after the rape.  Invited survivors of rape bravely shared their experiences to the students.

Psychulasa Concert: Arts and Music Festival

The Psychulasa Concert ’06: Arts and Music Festival held last September 22, 2006 was a continuation of Psychulasa Concert held on August 2006.  The invited band performers gave tribute to Filipino Arts and Music by playing their very own music and genre and through rendering Original Pinoy Music (OPM) songs.  SSC’s own college band, Shalimar and Extra Pilots, set the stage on fire through their own kind of music.  Other invited bands were Pedicab, Join the Club, Mojofly, Up Dharma Down, Dicta License and Stonefree.
