High School Family Day 2006

The High School Unit had their Centennial Family Day last October 22, 2006 at the school campus. The event which was held from 7:30am till 6:00pm had for its theme:  100 Years ... and still groovin’.

The day started with Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Ramon Borja.  The format of this year’s High School Family Day is like the campus fairs of the 70’s and 80’s where the following booths were handled by corresponding year levels: 1) Dedication Booth - Freshmen; 2) Marriage Booth -Sophomores; 3) House of Horror - Juniors;
4) Jail Booth - Seniors

The day fittingly started with a Holy Mass celebrated by
Fr. Ramon Borja.

The creativity of each year level was manifested in each of the booth. As a result, students had a blast getting “married”, “singing idols” were born, “criminals” got into the jail booth.  But the runaway top attraction was the Juniors’ horror booth.  Making use of two classrooms, live actors, and props so painstakingly crafted, this booth would give Disney a run for its money.

For the safety of the HS community, there were no rides rented. Instead, equally fun and exciting attractions like wall climbing, slide for life, parlor games. inflatables, etc. were available for the students’ enjoyment.  There were also dry goods stalls for the mommies (and the teens, of course) to do some early Christmas shopping.  The committee also made sure food of different kinds were available the whole day.  Other new features were a massage section, a coffee nook, and various other planned recreational activities for the kids as well as for the elders.  In the afternoon, everyone gathered near the main stage for the much awaited bingo game.

But amidst all these attractions, what was truly evident was the teamwork that was shown as the events unfolded.  Parents getting together with other parents, parents working with the students (whether with their daughters or not), the faculty and administrators collaborating with parents and students, the students and their teachers closely interacting with each other.  It was a high school unit, working as a family from day of conception to D-day.  That was the original game plan.  A game clearly won.  And that, for us, is the essence of Family Day.
