SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES I Complete List of Arts and Sciences Courses I Graduate School I Admissions

Bachelor of Science leading to Master of Science in Management Psychology and Counseling (Five-Year Program)
This course trains people in the fundamentals of business and people management.  The course requires basic business subjects that would enable the graduates to understand not only the business facets but also the human factors of the corporate/industrial world that must be considered in running it.  The science behind management psychology is a major consideration not found in other related courses.  Therefore this course prepares students to work in a variety of areas in the company that would require some management competency.   Psychology highlights how people in organizations think, feel and behave and what factors underlie their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  Counseling highlights the skills by which such people can be handled in ways that are beneficial to the individuals and the organization.

Methodology

All lessons will give the students hands-on experiences.  Lectures will always be accompanied by demonstration, role playing, simulation activities and actual practicum.  Utilization of learning in actual situations would characterize the learning package.  The process of learning to be followed in most courses is acquisitional, experiential, and exploratory.  Over and above classroom meetings and discussions, problem-based and research-based learning and individual conferences with faculty members are encouraged.

Retention Policy

On the fourth and fifth year, a minimum grade of B+ is expected for each subject.  A student is allowed to get a maximum of three grades below B+ but not lower than B.  Automatic delisting takes place when a student gets a grade lower than B and/or when the student earns a fourth B.

The Graduate School of Psychology and Counseling reserves the right to decide on the retention of students manifesting attitudes and behaviors considered to be inimical to their performance as future managers, counselors and psychologists.  Such students may be delisted/retained upon the recommendation of a panel.
