n   Understand the fundamentals of  logic formulation and computer programming
n   Demonstrate the ability to use mathematical and statistical software packages to solve
     mathematical and statistical problems

Values and Attitudes

n   Manifest behavior grounded on Benedictine tradition of “Ora et Labora” by demonstrating
social responsibility and Benedictine values like listening, humility, honesty (intellectual)
     stewardship, excellence, and order

Service Subjects

College Algebra (3 Units)
Pre-requisite: None

A basic course that prepares the freshwomen to feel the power of mathematics in solving the practical problems of society.  The students will be actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences which will focus on the following topics; real number system, laws of exponents, operations on algebraic expressions, factoring, and operations on fractions, linear and quadratic equations, system of equations, relations and functions, and applications of these topics.

Statistics I for AB students and Business Statistics for Commerce students (3 units)
Pre-requisite: College Algebra

Business Statistics/Statistics I is an applied course dealing with descriptive and introduction to inferential statistics. It also covers the analysis and interpretation of research survey results both manually and with the use of a computer software like Microsoft Excel.

Behavioral Statistics for Psychology students (3 units)
Pre-requisite:  Statistics I/Business Statistics

A course that aims to educate students on how to make inferences about a population based on samples and to teach them how to identify the appropriate test statistic for a given set of data. This course emphasizes the importance of inferential statistics not only to behavioral sciences and business but to other fields as well. It also provides the students the knowledge that they will need in handling the statistical treatment of any research paper that they will be writing.
