Greetings!
Welcome to I-CATHY, short for Institute of Catering Management
and Hospitality Technology. It is a new institute in St.
Scholastica’s College, Manila where the Bachelor of Science in
Hotel and Restaurant Management program is offered. From its
humble beginnings in 1975 under the School of Commerce, the
department grew, and in 2005, the institute was born.
I-CATY
has three mandates. First, is the offering of degree programs.
Second is the offering of non-degree courses. And, third is the
mandate for social ventures.
For
the social ventures, the thrust is to provide institutional
catering to the Benedictine community and groups affiliated with
SSC. To date, it has already successfully organized and
implemented thirty five (35) catering functions, some of which
served 1000 guests. This school year, Café Cyilla located at the
lobby of the I-CATHY wing will open for morning and afternoon
snacks from Monday to Friday. Students enrolled in subjects with
food laboratories will prepare and serve the guests.

For
its mandate to offer degree programs, I-CATHY envisions to add a
new program to its already existing and well established BSHRM
curriculum. This is a course in Travel Management. At the moment
the institute is working on a ladderized curriculum to be more
responsive to global requirements.
As for
the non-degree courses, a diploma in HRM is also being prepared.
Hopefully, this will be offered in school year 2008-2009. short
courses in Baking, Bar Tending, Tour Guiding are some of the
offerings being considered.
To
realize these mandates, we are continually upgrading our
facilities and professionalizing our faculty and staff. This
semester, a fully equipped bar laboratory was constructed. With
the improvements in these areas, I-CATHY is ready to meet the
demands of the global market for competent hospitality
practitioners.
I
invite you to browse through our website and get a glimpse of
who we are, our activities, our facilities, our faculty and
staff and most of all, our students. |
