Facilities and Services the music collection and its use The Music Library collects books and other materials that support the objectives and course offerings of St. Scholastica's College School of Music. The collection includes books, scores, periodicals, music CD's, DVD's, video cassettes, VHS, phonorecords, cassette tapes, and CD-ROM's.
The Circulation Section, located in an enclosed area, is accessible to students from a counter. This enclosed area houses the majority of the score collection. It is open only for library staff, faculty of the School of Music and graduate students. Photocopy Service Area is open from Mondays to Fridays from 2:00pm until 4:30pm.
General Collection
The books and scores in the general collection may be checked out for one (1) week subject to renewal as long as no one else requests for them. The Dean may restrict checking out of some books and scores of special category.
The Reference Section has the following collection: dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, handbooks and guides. These library materials are restricted in the reference section.
Periodicals Section The magazines and journals are available in bound and loose issues as well as in the internet (e-journals). Current issues are displayed on the magazine rack.
Listening Room Music students and music faculty members are given priority in the use of this facility. An advance reservation must be made prior to its use. Dubbing Service Fee is Php20.00 for 60 minutes.
Special Collections The Agoncillo, Larraga, Contreras, Yatco and Benito Lopez collections contain materials donated to the Music Library of St. Scholastica's College. These scores, recording, etc. are strictly for library use only. Some items from the Filipiniana and Liturgical collections may be checked out. These and archival materials may be used in the reading room only.
Internet Use In addition to the Library's On Line Access Public Catalog (OPAC) and two (2) other workstations, an Internet facility is readily available for the undergraduate and graduate students of the School of Music. The use of this library service is "STRICTLY FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY". Use of e-mails, games, blog, USB, and charging of electronic devices such MP3, iPods and the likes are not allowed. Printing services can be accommodated from Mondays to Fridays between 1:00pm-4:30pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am-12:00nn.
The Online Public Access Catalog
(OPAC) can be found upon entering the Music Library. It contains the overall
collections of the Music and College libraries. Card catalogs are available and located at the entrance of the Music Library. The card catalog is divided into two categories: the author and title entries. Entries in each catalog are arranged alphabetically by the first letter of the first word. The books and scores are located in the shelves by the call number found on the upper left-hand corner of the cards/screen in the OPAC system. The non-book materials are located in their respective shelves by accession number found in their containers.
