The competition was jointly organized by Sakamoto Educational System Pte, Ltd, Singapore, and franchisees of the other participating countries. All the students from Levels 1 to 6 (categorized on their ages at the time of the contest) solved challenging math questions in a bid for bronze, silver and gold medals at each level. In the end, the Philippines - with 10 contestants, were able to garner three (3) medals, including a bronze medal from our very own Angelina A. Aquino, Grade IV-St. Maurus. Other winners from the Philippines included Ma. Christina Guillermo and Roi Aldric Trawon, both silver medalists. Angel and Roi were contending champions, having also won first place in the 4th World Mathematics Competition held last year in Tagaytay City. The 6th World Mathematics Competition will be held in Bandung, Indonesia in March 2008. For more news about this event, visit their website at www.mathscompetition.com.
