SSC celebrates the Feast Day of St. Benedict

St. Scholastica's College, Manila celebrated an Institutional Holy Mass in honor of the Feast Day of St. Benedict  last July 11, 2008 with the following intentions: 1) to ask for blessings for the new school year; 2) further healing of former President Corazon Aquino; 3) Mass for truth, accountability and reform; and 4) for the recovery of the victims of typhoon Frank.

The Campus Ministry Office invited Fr. Anselm Manalastas, OSB of the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat to celebrate the Holy Mass.  Likewise, the Scholastican community was encouraged to share their blessings with the unfortunate victims of typhoon Frank in the form of goods, which were offered during the Offertory. 

After the Holy Mass, a symposium was held at St. Cecilia's Hall.  The invited guest speakers were Mr. Rodolfo "Jun" Lozada, star witness in the ZTE-NBN scandal and Mrs. Edith Burgos, mother of the missing Jonas Burgos.  Pressing issues on corruption, disappearance of activists and media practitioners and unresolved extrajudicial killings were discussed in the forum.
