SSC holds a dialogue on Campus Security and Safety in preparation for the opening of classes

The Task Force Safe School (TFSS) Committee on Community Relations, which is headed by Ms. Vivian P. Manila conducted a “Dialogue on Campus Security and Safety" in preparation for the opening of classes
last June 6, 2009 at Sr. Caridad Barrion Hall. This event was participated in by Manila Police District, PNP Station 9, Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, Barangay Chairman, Pedicabs and Jeepney Association Officers, and the TFSS member schools De La Salle University (DLSU), De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (DLS-CSB), and St. Scholastica's College (SSC).

TFSS has invited Police Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay, Director of MPD and Police Superintendent Ferdinand Quirante, Station 9 Commander to discuss their security plans for the opening of classes.  Colonel Frank Gacutan (Ret.) of MTPB also attended the meeting to discuss traffic concerns. 

General Magtibay said that additional police and mobile enforcers will be augmented along the schools' areas.  Likewise, he will also provide a 24 hour surveillance.

P/Supt. Quirante, on the other hand, announced that he will detail ninety eight (98) police force for three (3) shifts and 10% of his police force will be inside the office.  He will also assign three (3) mobile cars stationed at P. Ocampo Street to patrol the area of Arellano Street to Estrada Street, Quirino-Taft covering Osmeña Highway to Roxas Boulevard, Adriatico covering Harrizon Plaza, and all banks and main street.

Col. Gacutan of MTPB promised that one-way traffic will be observed and that provision of parking area for jeepneys and assignment of pedicab stations will be in place.  His group will monitor all traffic signals and signages in the said areas.  He also informed the group that he will check if they can provide and find ways for pedicab drivers to have their own lane.

Furthermore, MPD will have police enforcers permanently stationed at Estrada Street to control the traffic flow and assign Towing Services along the area (c/o Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim). The concern of clearing/removal of parking area along Leon Guinto Sreett between CSB and SSC will be studied.  Col. Gacutan assured the Scholastican community of a better traffic flow come opening of classes on June 15.
