SSC is now Globe campus connected

As part of the school’s commitment to bring quality education through new innovations, St. Scholastica’s College, Manila is proud to announce that it is now equipped with a text broadcast facility courtesy of Globe Telecom.  Aside from the usual school announcements made through television and radio, this text broadcast is a new way for the school administrators to send official announcements to the Scholastican community through mobile phones.  With this facility, the school can send important or urgent announcements like suspension of classes, cancellation of exams, message from the School President, upcoming events, and other school related student activities through text messaging.

The endeavor commenced with building up of a database consisting of the subscribers' Globe mobile numbers.  This service is available only for Globe subscribers, who were initially requested to register their numbers to avail of this service.  For non-Globe subscribers, an option was offered to them to get a FREE Globe SIM Card and load it with Php15.00 to include them automatically in the SSC database.  The free SIM cards were made available as early as June 9, 2009.  An estimated 3,200 Scholasticans composed of sisters, lay administrators, faculty, students, parents, and staff took part in this initiative.

On September 9, 2009 at around 8:00 p.m., the service became fully operational with the first message coming from the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Sr. Mary Thomas Prado, OSB, informing the Scholastican community of the activation of the SSC’s Globe Campus Connect facility.
