WCSA 2009 Badminton Ground Rules

GENERAL RULES FOR BADMINTON
February 7, 2010
I. Date and Venue
The WCSA Badminton
Tournament will be held at Assumption College Badminton Gym on
February 7, 2010.
II. Rules
1. The
Badminton competition shall be held in accordance with the current
rules and
regulations of the
Badminton World Federation (BWF) However, in matters not provided
for
in the rules of the
competition, decisions shall rest with the tournament director.
2.
In any dispute, only the official
coach or team captain is allowed to approach match
control/tournament
director with regards to questions and inquiries.
III. Tournament Format
1. Team tie competition
2. Single-round robin format
3.
Best-of-three team ties
4. After the single-round robin, top two
(2) teams will play in the FINALS, with the top team
TWICE to beat.
IV. Team Composition and Fielding
of Players
1.
Each varsity team must have a minimum
of four (4) players while the employee’s team
must have a minimum
of six (6) players (3 men and 3 women).
2.
Mandatory fielding of four (4) players per team tie are required for
the varsity league while
six (6) for the
employees league. No one player repeats.
3. The
varsity team tie shall consist of two (2) singles and one (1)
doubles. The employees
team tie shall
consist of Ladies Doubles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
4.
The order of
play shall be as follows: Singles-Doubles-Singles (SDS). For
employees,
Ladies Doubles,
Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles (Ld-Md-MxD).
5.
Fifteen (15)
minutes before the commencement of play of each tie, the coach shall
submit
the composition of
his/her team to the match control. No substitution shall be allowed
under any circumstances
after the tie has commenced.
V. Scoring
The
BWF standard scoring system of 1 – 21
points (rally point) best-of-three games shall
apply in this tournament.
VI. Interval
A mandatory interval of 60 seconds (1 min) will be given to the
players when the score
reaches 11 points, and 120 seconds (2
minutes) after each game.
VII. Eligibility
The WCSA rules on players qualification and eligibility shall apply.
VIII. Walk-Over-Default
A ten (10) minute, grace period on the scheduled tie’s/matches
shall be given. Otherwise
the team/player shall be
declared loser via walk-over.
IX. Ranking Order/Breaking of Ties
1.
Tie involving
two (2) teams –
the principle of win-over the other shall apply.
2. Multiple tie :
- Level
1 - Match won vs Match Lost
- Level 2 -
Games won vs Games Lost
- Level 3 -
Points won vs Points Lost
X. Competition Uniform
All players
are required to use their playing uniform (school colors) or must be
on a prescribed
badminton attire.
XI. Unforeseen Event
1. The decision of the
Tournament Director on any disputes during the competition shall be
final.
2. The
ongoing tie’s/matches shall be impossible
to continue, such tie’s/matches shall be
continued on a later from
the point where it was disrupted.
