| Freshmen shout "Freedom" in Speech
Choir Competition
![]() “Freedom!” echoed through the
four walls of the St. Ehrentrudis Hall during the Year - I
Speech Choir Competition last February 23, 2011. The piece
performed was Aurelio Alvero’s poem entitled
1896- a poem apt for the EDSA
Revolution Anniversary. Ms. Jonna Marie A. Lim, OIC for the English
Area, started off the activity by sharing a story about a
“Colorless Tiger.” It was followed by the opening ceremony
and the reading of the competition mechanics which was done by
Ms. Joane SP. Real and Ms. Luckie Anne G. Tuazon. ![]() The freshmen did their best
interpretation for the poem 1896
on stage. Each section had two student-directors who
guided their classmates all through-out the competition. All the
Year I sections were given a week or two to perfect each move,
scream and step. As the panel of judges was deliberating on who
the winners would be, some of the faculty members serenaded the
freshmen with a Filipino love song. The directors of each section
were called to go up the stage before Ms. Real and Ms. Tuazon
formally announced this year’s Speech Choir winners: 2nd runner
up- I Hospitality; 1st runner up - I Obedience; and Champion - I
Silence. The event was filled with excitement and
nationalism. As quoted from the story of the colorless
tiger, “Life is nothing without FREEDOM.” |
