The 3rd VPAA Testimonial for Student-Achievers for school year 2011-2012 was held on February 18, 2012 at the Sr. Caridad Barrion Hall. three units, board members of the parents’ association of the three units, and the guest speaker. Ms. Selene Yu, an SSC alumna who is the current Executive Director of Chevrolet Philippines – The Covenant Car Company Incorporated, a student-achiever herself, delivered an inspiring message on leadership not only to the student-achievers but to everyone present during the event.

This special event is an annual gathering to celebrate as a community the achievements of Scholasticans in the areas of academics, co-curricular and leadership. The occasion is also the best opportune time to thank and recognize the faculty, administrators and parents who have guided, mentored and inspired the students with what they have achieved. The testimonial is likewise an affirmation of the kind of education that molded the students to be ones who value excellence to glorify God.

Believing that the students awarded are not simply achievers but leaders in the service of Christ, country and creation, Ms. Selene Yu emphasized that to be a great leader is to lead with the integrity of heart; and to realize this leaders must be FIT to SERVE:

F -           Focused where Focus = Undivided Heart = Matter of the Will
          I -            Intimacy with God
T -           Tried and Tested in defining moments

Be willing to        Stretch and sacrifice
Lead by Example which has something to do with                                     personal  accountability and responsibility
Build right Relationships by choosing relationships                                     wisely then lead with positive influence
Lead with God’s Vision (if you fail, sit, discern and                                     wait allowing  God to reveal His plans for you. God                                     reveals His plans to those who seek Him and listen to                                     Him with the ear of the heart)
Choose Ethically (your measuring stick should always                                     be God’s standards;  hence, always do what is right)

She also added that we should always do what is right and God will do the best.

There were 90 student-achievers this school year which include Ms. Gaille Marie Olivia Ramos, who was awarded as one of the 10 Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) in the National Capital Region, Ms. Gayzelle Mae Baroja, the 2011 Outstanding Student in Nutrition and Dietetics, individual and group winners in academic and co-curricular competitions and workshops from the three Units. Special recognition was also given to the Grade School, High School and Night Secondary School for the commendable results of the National Achievement Test and National Career Assessment Examination administered in 2010.

Prof. Rembrandt Santos and Prof. Bethel Batallones were the emcees of the event. SSC President, Sr. Mary Thomas C. Prado, OSB, the author and the one who gave birth to this testimonial three years ago, delivered the closing message, which was followed by the singing of the College Hymn. To spice up the event, welcome and intermission numbers were performed by various units:

  • Welcome Dance by SSC Ballet Group
  • Song Number “Ako’y Kampupot” by Myramae Meneses
  • Song Number “Thank You for the Music” by Grade School students
  • Violin piece by High School student Jamelie Anne Yapchulay
  • Dance Number from the Danz Edge

After the program, a sumptuous lunch followed which was served by I-HOTELEIRES under the supervision of Prof. Vicky Nañagas and Chef Nelson Roque.

Everyone received some souvenir items from Sun Cellular, Chevrolet, and the VPAA Office which include a magnet and a tumbler, the design of which was made by Ms. Joana Bon Mishelle Viaje (BSIT 304A).
