| Mass Comm graduates enter 33rd CMMA Finals
Graduates of the Mass Communication department recently gave honor to the school as one of their theses was selected as a finalist in the 33rd Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA), one of the most prestigious awards relating to media in the country, This year's CMMA was held last October 19, 2011 at San Carlos Seminary, Guadalupe with hundreds of attendees representing the different media organizations in the industry. For years now, students from the Mass Communication Department of St. Scho never failed to secure a spot in the CMMA awards. In fact, in 2009, the thesis "Madaris" was given a special citation by the award giving body. Last year, 2010, "Ang dalawang mukha ng Rapu-Rapu" was among the finalists as well. This year, it was "Kwento sa likod ng Bakwit" that made it to the finals among the many entries sent by their fellow Mass Comm graduates in the competition. "Kwento sa likod ng Bakwit" was among the five finalists in the Best Student TV Production category. The four other entries all came from Colegio de San Juan de Letran. The documentary tackles the issues of Internal Displacement in Mindanao. Specifically, the video documentary aims to raise the muted issue of displacement into the public sphere. Present in the awards night to show support to the students were Atty. Prima Jesusa Quinsayas, thesis adviser and former Dean of Student Affairs of the College Unit, and Atty. Charlton Jules Romero, chair of the Mass Communication Department. "Kwento sa Likod ng Bakwit" is a video documentary written, directed and produced by Celine Pagobo, Camille de Asis, Keith Dacuan and Rachel Clavio with the help of their thesis adviser, Atty. Prima Jesusa Quinsayas. Previously, they bagged the People's Choice Award in this year's DLSU Indie-UN Film Competition last February. PHOTO GALLERY:
