SSC HS Club Moderators undergo Ms. Debbie Tan's Mentoring

"Take them through the tough times and enhance the good times."


Ms. Debbie Tan gave the HS Club Moderators for SY 2012-2013 something inspirational to ponder on.

Miss Debbie Ann Tan, a Scholastican mentor herself, gave a half-day session to St. Scholastica's College (SSC) High School Club moderators on the proper way of rearing the young's talent and leadership skills. The objective of the session, which was held at the Audio Visual Room on May 23, 2012, is to enhance the moderator's mentoring skills.

Forming the theme "Motivation Mirroring: A Guide to Advising Student Organizations", Miss Tan lectured on Foundations of Good Organizations, Assessment of Advising Effectiveness, Advising Styles and Types of Problems which student organizations usually encounter. "Be aware of the task problems but do not be afraid of failures. Instead, learn to get up together with your members," Ms. Tan advised the moderator.

"Nagandahan ako sa discussion about motivating student leaders. They will be more interested in club works and activities if we will be giving them rewards and incentives," shared Mrs. Evangeline Banta, a six-year moderator of Culinary Enthusiasts' Organization (CEO), a circle of cooking experts.

Miss Tan is a SSC alumna having attained a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Marketing in 1990 from SSC's College Unit. After finishing graduate studies at the De La Salle University focused on Creative Writing in 2002, she went in to the world of stages and drama, and at the same time, made a name in the field of mentoring and teaching.

"Take what you can apply," she concluded. Miss Tan encouraged all the club moderators to start the school year with their clubs by choosing a core value which the club believes in espouse and live for.


Mrs. Jimenez, the new Coordinator for Student Activities and Services awards the Certificate of Appreciaion to Ms. Tan.
