SHARING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE. The High School Unit of St. Scholastica's College, Manila was chosen as the partner school to fourteen (14) secondary schools in Yogyakarta, a special region in Central Java Indonesia.

Led by the head of SEAMEOLEC (the funding agency), Timbul Pardede, twenty-two (22) Indonesian administrators from the fourteen (14) secondary schools in Yogyakarta came to see the High School Unit of SSC Manila last May 31 to establish an academic partnership that would improve the educational practices in Yogyakarta. The group of administrators from Yogyakarta, Indonesia wanted to know and learn about the best teaching practices, academic-related activities, students' involvement in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and Benedictine culture. The group chose the SSC High School Unit as partner school because of its likeness to their schools' orientation, Catholic- sectarian school. Two of the link schools are BOPKRI High School and KOLESE de BRITO High School.

According to Mrs. Ma. Lourdes N. Cura, Assistant Principal of the High School Unit, the tie-up of the schools in Yogyakarta Indonesia with the High School Unit of St. Scholastica's College will benefit not only the respective schools' academic programs but also the teaching and non-teaching staff, students, and administrators through an exchange program. This exchange program will be focused on sharing the best educational practices and has the end goal of improving the quality of education and services in the involved schools. The partnership is through the effort of the education attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Paristivanti Nurwerdani, MP.

The criteria for the selection of representatives for the exchange program have not yet been formally announced.
