Sister President's Talk Gives Us One Direction

Back to school once more! Some students sigh, missing summer already, and some have eyes bright with excitement and anticipation. I, on the other hand, feel both excited and absolutely terrified! But I got through five previous years didn’t I?

When I was I asked to introduce Sr.Tammy at the first Morning Praise of the year, I was taken by surprise! Although I made mistakes, I still tried to give my best. I guess the anxiety got to me a little.

Sr.Tammy’s talk opened up our eyes to how much effort the school makes to improve and preserve our campus and that we must do our part to keep it as beautiful as it is now. I also realized how important community is. I felt the same way about how everyone wants to belong. This has always been on my mind, to be honest. And when I met my friends, I finally felt that I was part of something. But no matter how amazing it feels to be in a community, we must not forget to do our part. We’re all here for a reason, aren’t we? “I just love how machines never come with spare parts. So if the world is a machine, then I can’t be a spare part. I have to be here for something.” I really just love that line from one of my favorite movies, “Hugo”. Well, I think communities work the same way. Come to think of it, the whole world is one big community! After that very inspiring talk of our dear School President, the introduction of the other members of the Benedictine community followed.   Everybody was so happy and excited to meet our administrators, subject area coordinators, head teachers, class advisers, subject teachers, life-coaches(guidance counselors),and librarians.  We know that these people are all God’s gifts to us because they help us in our Scholastican formation as future leaders of our society.

Wow, I’ve learned so much already. The Opening Assembly itself got me thinking so much! Just think, if this is only the start....
