Dean of School of Business and Presidents of Student Organizations Renew Collaborative Thrust
By Gina Duran, Secretary School of Business
Posted: Tuesday, July 24, 2012

In line with the thrust to strengthen the collaborative activities between the academic departments and the students, the Dean of the School of Business, the Presidents of the different student organizations in the School of Business and the Student Council Chairperson for Student Organizations held a meeting last 29 June 2012 to renew commitment and explore action plans for the school year. Dean Mañalac presented his proposal for the collaborative effort program, emphasizing that initial focus could be towards co-curricular activities and outreach/community service. There was positive response from the student leaders and unanimity to do their share in the fulfillment of the program.

The group agreed that planning and implementation of subsequent projects/activities shall be direct partnership among the students (organization), Department Chair & faculty, and the school Dean. In the process, resources requirements shall be amicably shared by the student group, partner Department, and School of Business Dean's Office to facilitate immediate implementation. To get the program started, the group set up a projects timetable to commence this semester. The basic plan this semester is for each student organization to spearhead one (1) collaborated activity for each of the co-curricular and outreach/community service areas. As a result, there will be a total of six (6) co-curricular and six (6) outreach/community service activities for the entire semester undertaken by the six (6) student organization-Department collaborations. While the initial thrusts are on co-curricular and outreach/ community service, the group however does not discount the possibility of undertaking partnership for socials and extra-curricular activities as it sees fit and feasible.

Those present were Ms. Raisa Nagrampa (SC Chairperson for Student Organizations), Ms. Gizelle S. Diego (BITS), Ms. Ruzelle A. Flores (IBEAD), Ms. Lady Kristel V. Dela Cruz (JAM), Ms. Le-Anne L. Gromio (JMA), Ms. Crysta Jessica P. Ortiz (JFINEX), Ms. Ma. Carmella Rose R. Ruiz (JSEF) and Dean Ramon R. Mañalac.
