Background

The Lifelong Learning and Wellness Center was founded in 1997 by Sr. Mary John Mananzan, OSB after she arrived from Europe.  In a train from Munich to Frankfurt, she met an elderly woman who was enrolled in a senior citizen’s university, University of the Aged, in Heidelberg. She told Sr. Mary John all about their activities and this started the idea of doing something similar in the Philippines.

  The objective of the center is to provide opportunities for anyone who wants to learn and to continue learning no matter what his or her age is.  The center believes that one is never too old to learn something new.  The first offering of the center was Music Appreciation.  Other subjects such as Reflexology, Aromatherapy, CranioSacral Therapy, Journal Writing and Popular Science followed.  Course offerings slowly geared toward holistic alternative natural healing.  Former students have become teachers.
