"Emang the Enchantress and the Three Brats,"
a Chamber Theater production, was the second presentation among
the various productions of Filipino Children’s Literature this 16th
Season of the SSC Children and Teacher Theater. It was performed
by the students of Grade 4-St. Bernard and was staged at St.
Ehrentrudis Hall last October 3-5, 2005.
The story is
written by our well-known Filipino writer for children, Mr. Rene
O. Villanueva and is arranged for Chamber Theater by Mrs. Filomena
S. Callo, Grade School Drama and Theater in Education (DTIE)
Coordinator. Mrs. Callo, Grade School Principal Ms. Adelaida
Villegas and Physical Education Coordinator Mrs. Sarah S. Garcia
composed the directorial team.
Playing the
leads were Gianica Reena S. Monteagudo and Sharmaine Selene S.
Garcia as Emang the Enchantress; Lorynel Anne B. Perez and Alecza
Marie A. Loanzon as Pat Kalat; Mikee Karina H. de Vega and Regina
Marie M. Duenas as Pol Putol and Hurley Anne M. Alegre and
Alexandra Marie B. Santos as Paz Waldaz.
The story of
Emang the Enchantress and the Three Brats was not just a
laboratory material for the Grade School’s DTIE program but a
humble response to one of the concerns of the school and the
Manila Priory, specifically Mother Prioress Mary John’s call for
ecological healing, because its theme centers on CARE FOR THE
ENVIRONMENT. It is hoped that through this production, the
audience will take a conscious effort in preserving Mother Earth.
That all of us, Scholasticans, will do our share in making not
only St. Scho but also our local communities, country and
especially the world a paradise to live in for God’s greater
glory! n
