Fine Arts student wins in national competition

Ms. Irmalyn C. Raquedan, Fine Arts major in Studio Practice and Design (Painting), bagged the 3rd Honorable Mention in the 2006-2007 PLDT-DPC Telephone Directory Cover during its 20th Visual Art National Competition held last February 2, 2006 at the National Museum.  Sixty-four (64) talented students from twenty-two (22) schools competed in the said event.  Ms. Raquedan was awarded a plaque made by National Artist Napoleon V. Abueva.

 

Ms. Raquedan had her one-woman thesis exhibit entitled “FACE it” last February 9 at the Amrhein Gallery of SSC.  The occasion was graced by the College Unit’s Dean of Arts and Sciences Sr. Mary Vincent Feliciano, OSB and Fine Arts professors Mr. Don S. Amorsolo and Mr. Benjamin T. Cabrera. Ms. Raquedan’s mother and friends were also present to give their moral support to the aspiring artist whose works showcased the different facial expressions based on the student’s personal experiences in life.  The exhibit will run from February 9 to 28. n
