SC and SAO to re-launch "St. Scho, School ko 'to"

     With the centennial celebration soon to kick off on December 3, 2005, the College Student Council (SC) and the Student Affairs Office (SAO) will re-launch “St. Scho, School ko 'to” with the following line up of exciting activities and projects:

Organization Shirt Festival (August 17 – 19, 2005)

     The re-launch will be held during the opening ceremony of the Organization Shirt Festival, an annual activity of all student organizations which highlights the school theme through the different organization shirts. For this year, the proposed theme is a revival of the 60’s. A concert by Parokya ni Edgar and other bands will culminate this three-day event.

Revisiting the School Thrust: A Lecture Series (September 2005) 

     Revisiting the School Thrust: A Lecture Series will be featuring three important societal issues, namely: Ecological Crisis (September 9), Gender Inequality (September 21) and Economic Injustice (September 29). Speakers for the three topics shall be Scholasticans who have lived out their Benedictine formation as strong advocates on these issues.

College Intrams (September 1-2, 2005)

The annual College Intramurals, to be jointly sponsored by the PE Department, Sports Organization and the SC, shall be a two-day event that will feature such events as an aero marathon, basketball, volleyball, cheering, etc. Fun games and other “gimmicks” shall spice up this two-day event.

 CORE  Leadership Formation Program and Team Building Workshop   
      
(September 3-4,
2005)

    The annual CORE Team-Building and Leadership Training of all class representatives shall be facilitated by former SC officers of the College unit. Keynote speakers (to be invited) shall talk about the national situationer and Benedictine Leadership.

Koolasahan (September 30, 2005)

The “Koolasahan” is an annual Years I and III Integration Activity that seeks to build bonds of friendship among the juniors and the freshmen. For this year, a stand-up comedy show/cocktails event is proposed.

       Leadership for All (September 17-18, 2005)

The first-ever Leadership for All is a leadership formation program open to all interested first year to third year students who are not elective officers. The rationale behind Leadership for All is the belief that leadership CAN be developed and that everyone is called to be a LEADER especially in the tasks of societal change and nation-building.

S-Leadership for Scholastican  Leaders (October 17-18, 2005)

To be facilitated by an alumna, Selene Yu, S-Leadership is a unique leadership formation program as it focuses on the Headship of God in all organizations.
S-Leadership has been successfully given to the CWC schools and many other institutions and organizations.

Scholastican Leaders’ Training (SLT)

2nd Scholastican Leaders’ Assembly (December 9, 2005)

A gathering of all student leaders from all the units in the College, the SLA is an opportunity for the leaders to come together to discuss common programs and issues. The theme of the SLA is “Defining the Scholastican Leader”.

ABS Student Leaders’ Congress (February 3-5, 2006)

To be patterned after the International Benedictine Youth Congress, the ABS-SLC shall be facilitated by former IBYC participants. The congress shall include a visit to SSC Wholeness and Wellness Farm at Mendez, Cavite; a visit to SSC House of Spirituality and the Centennial Admissions and Job Fair at the Glorietta.  Target participants are 2nd and 3rd year high school student leaders from the ABS schools. 

“Cente-Mo” A Centennial Concert (February 24, 2006)

A joint concert with the High School Student Council, this fund-raising concert for the centennial hopes to bring together some of our most popular artists.

Other projects slated for School Year 2005-2006 are: 

Joint Danz-Edge and Sining Tanghalan Concert 

Billed as a centennial production, the joint concert shall have as its consultant Mrs. Florina "Lala" F. Castillo and shall be staged on February 15, 2006.  Workshops will be conducted by Mrs. Castillo for the participants.  Three shows on the said day are being targeted and ticket-selling to High School and Grade School students will be proposed.

Students’ Video Festival

Co-sponsored by SAO and the Mass Communication Department, this festival shall be a three-day event from February 22-24, 2006 at the Battig Hall and Barrion Hall.  Mass Communication students from consortium schools and other affiliations shall be invited to participate.  

 Women’s Fair  

Co-sponsored by SAO and the Women’s Studies Department and in commemoration of International Women’s Day, the fair shall be on March 3-4, 2006. Student organizations such as Gabriela Youth, Polis, CCD, JSEF, J-FINEX shall be invited to co-sponsor the event. The fair shall have NGO exhibits, products for sale from women’s groups, lecturettes, acoustic performances, poetry reading, etc.  Again, students from other colleges and universities will be invited.
