The Economics Department and the Economics Organization (Econorg) attended the 9th National Conference of the Council of Economics Educators (CECON) and 6th National  Convention of Philippine Council of Economics Students (PhilCES) last November 24-26, 2005 at the De La Salle University-Dasamariñas and Antler’s Hotel and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite, respectively.
 

This year’s theme is “The Role of Economics Educators in a Knowledge-Based Economy.”  There were at least 150 participants from various schools, colleges and universities in the Philippines who attended the said event.  Day 1 tackled technical sessions, day 2 was devoted to a Cavite tour and day 3 for business meetings. 

SSC faculty participants include Dr. Ruben M. Nayve, Jr., Economics Department Chairperson and CECON Chairman Emeritus.  Prof. Kirsten Mae Namay, CECON Secretary and Dr. Gudelia Saporna, CECON Treasurer.  Nineteen (19) Econorg members joined the activity.  Ms. Lora Aldrea de Guzman of Econorg was elected PhilCES Vice-President-Internal.  (EcoDept News Staff)
