First and second year students during the personality and communication skills forum with Mrs. Ma. Sylvia Pengson as resource person

The College Guidance Office, in coordination with the Student Affairs Office, sponsored fora that aim to assist first and second year students enhance their personality and communication skills.   It consists of three (3) modules with topics on basic concepts of personality development, social graces and effective communication.  Ms. Ma. Sylvia Pengson, former SSC High School Coordinator for Student Activities and Services, facilitated these sessions during the first and second semesters of the current school year.

On December 9-10, 2004, the unit invited Dr. Charles Frost, Chair of the Social Work Department, Middle Tennessee State University, to discuss “Effective Family Involvement in Client Management” and “Expanding Options for Client Management.”  Other guest speakers shared their experiences and insights on the following topics:

- Growing up in a Troubled Home

- Saving Troubled Marriages

- Journeying in the Marital and Family Therapy Course
 

The two-day seminar workshop was made possible in cooperation with SSC's MS Family Psychology and Counseling Program headed and chaired by Dr. Imelda V.G. Villar.  In the audience were educators, counselors, psychologists and social workers from Luzon and Visayas.

On January 20, 2005, Ms. Catherine Holley, BS Psychology/ABGC Batch 2003 and Ms. Isabel Hipolito-Baizas, BS HRM Batch 1995, provided the seniors information on the industry’s and academe’s expectations of Scholastican graduates.  Their experiences inspired and motivated the students to aim for personal and professional excellence – to deliver, be responsible and be grateful to their Alma Mater.

  objective of the activity is to assist the students to develop a career path that will help them to make good decisions in the future.  Invited guest speakers were Mr. Joaquin Francis P. Reyes, Corporate Training Manager of Armadillo Holdings and Ms. Mary Grace B. Olfindo, an alumna of SSC and a successful businesswoman.  The resource persons discussed and shared realities of the corporate world, which proved to be helpful in the activity.  n
