It’s been 98 years since St. Scholastica’s College, Manila made a commitment towards academic excellence and social responsibility. Thus, as a run-up to the centennial celebration in December 2006, the College Student Council, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office, is spearheading the St. Scho, School Ko ‘To! Project.

On September 21, 2004, the Student Council, Student Affairs Office, Council of Representatives, Council of Leaders, Student Council Staff, faculty and students together with our Dean of College S. Josefina G. Nepomuceno, OSB formally launched this project.

Our very own music students, Mr. Kits Falcis and Ms. Krystl Buesa sang the invocation, accompanied by pianist Mr. Gringo Villaril. The president of the Student Council, Ms. Lia Lagarde, gave the opening remarks. She emphasized that the objectives of “St. Scho, School Ko ‘to!” are to heighten awareness of the Scholasticans in anticipation of the centennial celebration and to feature the talents, skills, potentials and gifts of the studentry that will build school pride, school spirit and community.

       S. Josefina inspired those who participated through her message as a proud Scholastican. She accented the fact that the four walls of St. Scho have been as they were years ago in the same way that the Benedictine values being instilled today are as they were in the past.  She also thanked and congratulated those who made preparation for the event and blessed the upcoming activities in line with this project.

On the same event, the Student Council headed by Lia Lagarde and April Cabrera, SC Finance Officer, formally turned-over the proceeds from the previous concert and fashion show entitled, “Skoolasti_punk04@ssc”.  PhP24,000.00 was given to the St. Scholastica’s Research and Development Fund and the other
PhP24,000.00 was donated for the improvement of the Social Hall and for additional facilities needed by the Student Organization Office.

The three-time WNCAA champions, the College Pep Squad did an extremely entertaining intermission number.  Mrs. Lucris Agnir-Paraan, the Centennial Commission Chairperson, gave a short message to the Scholastican community and gave everyone something to ponder about our readiness to be part of the Hundred Years of Grace as proud and committed Scholasticans.

The Student Council presented a video of the activities in line with the project such as the Scholastican Leaders’ Assembly (SLA), the Lecture-Series on the Scholastican as a Change Agent, the Alternative Org Day (AOD), School Ko, Linis Ko and the College Intrams dubbed as SportsKoolastican. To cap the entire launch, the Student Council together with Mrs. Rhodora Ferrer, OIC of the Student Affairs Office and Ms. Vanessa Guerrero, Assistant to the OIC-SAO performed an unexpected closing number wherein they all danced to the tune of “I like that”! The launch culminated with singing of the College Hymn.

On September 23-24, the Student Council opened the “School Sale” that featured “St. Scho, School Ko ‘To” merchandise such as t-shirts, tumblers, bags, and pizza empanada. By October, the SC ’05 will release “St. Scho, School Ko ‘to” jackets and College Scholastican Doll pins.  The proceeds from these various activities will fund the upcoming “St. Scho, School Ko ‘to” activities.

The mission of St. Scholastica’s College continues as the flames of the hearts of the Scholasticans continue to burn with justice, integrity, and truth. St. Scho, School Ko ‘To – no other statement is nearer the truth!
