Dance Idol 2005
The Dance Idol
2005 competition, held at the UP Theater on January 8, 2005, was
an energetic and outstanding success. Dance groups from respected
colleges and universities which include University of the
Philippines, Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle
University, St. Scholastica’s College, Miriam College and five (5)
professional dance groups competed |

in the four categories -
cheer dance, jazz, street dance and open dance.
The competition
was sponsored by Street Park Productions, Inc., which produces
events for concerts, MTV’s and dance productions. Choreographed
by Mr. Angel Sy of the famed Hotlegs and with the piece “Bring Me
to Life” by Evanescence,
St. Scholastica’s College’s Danz Edge emerged victorious and was
proclaimed champions for the Jazz category.

Edge was one of the featured performers in the Dance Idol T.V.
special aired from
February 14-17, 2005
at Studio 23.
JIG Showdown
The SSC Danz
Edge participated in the dance competition dubbed as JIG,
sponsored by Don Bosco Technical College on February 5, 2005.
With the same winning piece “Bring Me to Life”, the St.
Scholastica’s College’s Danz Edge bagged the 1st
Runner-up title in the JIG 2005. Once more, Danz Edge came
face-to-face with strong contenders from thirteen (13) schools
including UP
Manila,
Ateneo de Manila University, San Beda College,
Assumption
College,
Miriam College, College of the Holy Spirit, and other schools.
Another
highlight of the JIG Showdown was the concert featuring Bamboo and
MYMP and a fashion show sponsored by MYX Wear.
