A group of Grade School teachers was invited by Mrs. Amelia Catindig, President of the Pastoral Council, to give a drama workshop to the children and youth of the community of Sinalhan in Sta. Rosa, Laguna held on April 8-10, 2005.  The team was headed by Mrs. Filomena Callo, Drama Coordinator of the SSC Grade School unit.  Mrs. Callo was joined by Ms. Fe Sanchez, Ms. Divina David and Mrs. Leonila Cabrera who are Drama and Theater Arts majors.  There were forty-eight (48) participants with an age range of 5-21 years old.

The Experiential Approach used in this workshop led the team to achieve the objectives set for this outreach activity.  It was through the process of giving the background of how drama came to be, a simple introduction of drama theories before each exercise and a synthesis after it, stage geography and the structure of the Production Staff that paved the way to three (3) plays as the output of the workshop.

The performance of three plays, namely, “Nagkamali ng utos” for the children; “Ang Pag-ibig ni Virgil at Cely” and “Bakit Babae ang Naghuhugas ng Pinggan” for the youth, motivated the participants to apply what they had learned in the workshop.  They presented the plays in the Chapel to an audience from the town

The participants were like cocoons that have grown into caterpillars.  They will move to the Sining Tanghalan ni Maria, the Community Theater Group of the Youth for nurturing and talent enhancement. n
