Heal what is wounded, restore what is lost, give life to what is destroyed.

St. Scholastica’s College is committed to molding students into well-rounded and socially responsible citizens.  With this in mind, the High School unit encourages students to join various organizations that will heighten and awaken their social responsibility.

Steadfast in this commitment, the unit welcomes the newest addition to the thirty-two (32) existing High School clubs, the Forest Club. The club’s objectives

are to educate the students about the forest’s true value,  promote a cleaner and greener school environment; encourage students to be sensitive to the needs of the forest; and persuade them to become actively involved in solving various environmental problems.

At present, the Forest Club has fifty-four (54) members with Ms. Cristina Samonte, a Biology High School teacher, as its moderator.  The club’s kick-off activities included a trip to the Women and Ecology Wholeness Center in Mendez, Cavite on September 11, 2004.  Mr. Freddie Isas, a representative from Life Foundations, lectured on the basics and benefits of vegetable gardening.  After the talk of Mr. Isas, the club members had a chance to experience actual planting of vegetable seeds.  An integration activity with the Administration, SC Office, homeroom and CLE area was also held on October 4, 2004.

With the vision of promoting love for the environment, the club members are enthusiastic to share their new learned knowledge to their fellow students as they initiate another project called the Greening of the Altar. n
