The festival began with a parade of these storybook characters.  The skit started with the story friends seeking Ibong Adarna's help because most of the Philippine story characters were missing from their books.  Adarna ordered everyone to go back to their storybooks for the sake of the Filipino children.

The skit was directed by Adelaida Villegas, together with Lala Castillo and Mena Callo.  Music was by Cielito Mirandilla.  Costumes and set were executed by Becks Cariņo, Amy Catindig and Rose Mora.  Make-up was by Liz Rebancos.

The treat for the children was meeting Rene Villanueva, the scriptwriter, and Dr. Luis Gatmaitan, author of "Bas Bayabas and the Tropang Okey" and "Ang Pambihirang Buhok ni Raquel" in person.

The 20th World Congress in Reading was attended by about 1,500 delegates from more than forty (40) countries on July 26-29, 2004.  Miss Adelaida P. Villegas, Grade School Principal, represented   St. Scholastica's College, Manila in the   conference. n
