Raissa Velasquez of I-Obedience, won a gold medal at the recently concluded 13th K01 Karate World Cup at the Megatrade Halls 1, 2 and 3 of SM Megamall last August 13-15, 2004.

The international event was participated in by more than fifteen (15) countries from around the world.  The Philippines placed Fourth overall with five (5) Gold medals, nine (9) Silvers and thirty-one (31) Bronzes.  Raissa also won one (1) Bronze medal in the Individual Kata category during the said event.

Raissa's gold medal came from the Individual Kumite for the 12-13 year-old girls.  Her participation in the said event was just one of the many that have brought honor to her and her family.  She has won many gold medals from the time she started at age 7 to the present.  Some of these were from events such as AAK Inter-Club Kata-Kumite Championship, Kihon Kumite and Super Karate kids among others.

Inspite of her hectic training and competition schedule, Raissa has maintained her good academic standing. n
